My 100lb boy lets me put this on him without any issues and it actually helps him not shake and pant when there’s thunderstorms. He’s a very scared big baby and it breaks my heart when he is panting and shaking in a corner. When I put this on him before the thunder started he laid in his safe space and didn’t shake or pant. We just moved to the south and thunderstorms to this level are new to him. I put this on his along with his dose of melatonin dog treats and he does ok. Without the vet and just the treats he pants and shakes and doesn’t calm down. The vet and treats combo are key.
I've been using a thundershirt for about 6 years for my anxious dog (loud noises, gunfire (we're in the country) or thunder). He really seems alot calmer when it's on. I recently lost the original thundershirt, so I bought a new one. This one actually seems like maybe it's a bit thinner material than the original, but it works exactly the same and is very effective in calming my dog's anxiety. Its not magic, the owner DOES need to follow the directions for getting the dog used to it and making it a 'happyt place' for the dog, before expecting it to calm dog's nerves.
I have a corgi who is very reactive to loud noises. If someone sets off a firework or there are loud engine noises, she runs to go under the bed, or in the bathroom. She has been on prescription medication, however she still becomes afraid. Adding the anxiety vest has made a real difference! I put it on her and she just goes to sleep. No panting or pacing, just relaxing.
I was skeptical at first but was very impressed at how this ThunderShirt actually calmed down my two Boxers I was actually thinking about medication for my female but this shirt really does work. They both come to me when Its time to put on their ThunderShirts and stand still while putting them on.
My doggie Harmony had no problems with her Thundershirt whatsoever. She has some anxiety, she's a rescue pet. The pictures I posted were taken within the hour of putting the Thundershirt on her, I think the pictures speak for themselves. I was told she's her breed is a "Phantom". She seems to me to be a Schanuzer/Maltese/Yorkie mix. Idk. I just love her. :)
My big boy is a big baby when it comes to thunder and fireworks. He has some meds but they need to be administered a half hour prior to the situation. That isn't always possible. I was hesitant to purchase this item as I wasn't sure it would help and, it is so difficult to find any product to fit a Great Dane. To my surprise not only does it fit!!!, its also a quality product and yes it does help. Is he still afraid? Yes. However he is much better when wearing it and his heart no longer felt like it was going to beat right out of his chest. I do notice a clear difference in behavior. He still.clings to me but no longer trembled and shakes. Don't expect a complete cure bit this product definitely helps.
Our dog had a very rough start in life, and will go through periods of self mutilation. We’ve tried all sorts of allergy meds, diets, etc., but it’s severe anxiety. She had to wear a cone 24/7, which probably added to the anxiety. This shirt keeps her from tearing her skin to shreds! She’s so chill now, and cone-free.
I needed a shirt that was thicker than cotton but not overly heavy and hot for my dog who has been recently diagnosed with diabetes. For those with diabetic dogs who wear a Libre sensor, you know they're often times placed in areas on the dogs back where they can scratch at them, or tear off when rough-housing with their friends. The ThunderShirt is the perfect shirt to cover up his sensor and gives me peace of mind that his sensor has a better chance at lasting until the next change.
Helped my nervous 8mo husky/heeler pup so much with car rides and separation anxiety! Added the pheromone spray to her thunder shirt and ended up with a very calm puppy for our road-trip! Also thank you to chewy for replacing the first frayed thunder shirt pup pup decided to unravel!
My Rottweiler is a little nervous around my grandson, she barks and jumps at him, I was hoping this would help her calm down around him but the only thing I can tell is she likes to wear it.
