USING FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME: ThunderShirt is designed to be safe to leave on for extended periods rnof time when appropriate for the situation or issue. When sized correctly and properly put on with a soothingly snug rnfit, your dog should be very comfortable. If your dog will be wearing a ThunderShirt for more than one hour at a time, rnwe recommend removing ThunderShirt every one to two hours during the initial periods to check for any signs of rnirritation points. Irritation points are very rare, but it is best to be cautious. After confirming no irritation points during rninitial uses for extended periods, we recommend that you still remove the ThunderShirt at least twice a day for rnthirty minutes. CHEST STRAPS SHOULD BE LOOSE AROUND NECK: Use the two-finger collar rule when applying the neck rnstraps (i.e. easily slide two fingers between the neck straps and your dogs neck without pressure). The neck straps rnare only intended to keep the ThunderShirt in place.
To get the most accurate size anxiety vest for your pet, measure the girth of their chest, around the widest part of your dog's torso right behind the front legs, with a cloth tape measure. Pull the cloth tape snug, but not tight. If you don't have a cloth tape measure, you can use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. If your dog is in between sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size.

Before I get too far along, I wanted your thoughts if I should get him the medium? He's 22 pounds so I followed the size guidance which 18-25lbs is a small. I think his length is greater than the weight because it looks so small lol I only gave it a four because I have not had it a full 24 hrs and I'm wondering if he should get a bigger size (it looks like he's wearing his baby brother's jacket lol ).
I have a very hyper American Bulldog. He is the only dog I have ever had that fights sleep. We have a hard time taking him to the vet. This shirt is amazing. He calms down as soon as I put it on him. I was scptical at first. I would highly recommend this
Our sweet girl has gotten more anxious as the years have passed. She’s about to turn 14, and definitely seems antsy and restless, particularly in the late afternoon/early evenings. The thundershirt helps significantly…I think she would keep it on 24/7 if it was up to her. We have 2. I highly recommend it to soothe an agitated pup.
Our dog had a 3rd episode of debilitating vertigo when we thought to try a thunder shirt. He immediately was more stable and had less staggering to find his footing. We found it to be immensely helpful to him, and, thus, to us.
My peke was so terrified of thunder storms and fireworks that I could not get her to go outside after a storm or when it looked like it might rain. She would shake like a leaf. I could not believe my eyes when she immediately calmed down after I put it on her during the next storm. She totally calmed down and laid on the recliner like nothing was happening. I should have gotten this years ago.
I bought Paris her first Thundershirt 3 years ago during the Fourth of July. She is terrified of fireworks, gun shots, thunder and lightning basically anything that makes a loud noise and gives off vibrations. This along with calming supplements helped her through the holiday. She was still anxious but not bad. This year when I noticed Gypsy was scared of fireworks I decided to get her one and see if it would help her like it did for Paris. It worked wonders for Gypsy. She was calm and even went to sleep during the fireworks. The Thundershirt works for both my dogs differently but they do work. Paris just requires more help during stressful situations. Definitely recommend this product.
We purchased our ThunderShirt about 2 years ago, and have been using it on and off with our dog, noticing changes in his behavior here and there through the years with thunder, fireworks - with his anxiety and such; but not like tonight! We had thunder rolling through out neighborhood terribly this evening. Gus just would not settle down. He was trying to knock over everything from my dresser to our TV. He basically destroyed our bedroom. His behavior has gotten so bad that he had gotten medication from the vet, because I didn't think his ThunderShirt really made that much of a difference. So after nearly 2 hours of Gus panting, making a mess of our bedroom, and crying, I finally went downstairs and just had his ThunderShirt placed snuggly on him; we went back up to our bedroom; he lied on his bed, and calmed down and that was the end of it!!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!!!! It was still raining and thundering outside!!!! I wouldn't have believed it. I sure wished I did that earlier!!!!
I have a Great Dane and originally ordered the XXL based on the measurements, however it was to big so I ordered the XL and it fits like a glove. Be sure to double check your measurements! So far it seems to help, but time will tell if that remains true.
I have a 7 pound pure breed toy poodle and i got a size XS for her and it fits PERFECTLY! She is kind of long and has a size 14 chest. So i am so glad i sized up due to her being in the middle of sizes. It works great for her. She loves to tucked in and be all cozy. So this is the perfect solution to her feeling calm all the time. She is full of anxiety sometimes so this really helps her calm down. I highly recommend a ThunderShirt for any dogs that love to have some type of pressure to calm their anxiety.
We were able to try this on our mini Australian shepherd last night for the first time during a thunderstorm for about an hour, and he was totally calm. His heart rate did not rise. He did not bark. He did not go hide. It was a miracle frankly, because we've always had to give him a tranquilizer. This really works! I highly highly recommend it if you have a dog that goes bat- crazy during storms or fireworks
