As others have said, the worst part about this is that if you're around when your cat poops, it smells ungodly awful. This usually only happens towards the end of the month, when the pellet count gets low and there isn't enough to cover it completely. However, for me, this system was worth the try for the pee pads alone. I live in a one bedroom, so when something smells bad in one area, the whole apartment fills with it. My cat is a frequent pee-er and with other litters, I was constantly cleaning the box to avoid the ammonia smell. Now, as long as I switch the pads out every week, I don't come home to an apartment that reeks as soon as I open the door. That, combined with the fact that there's no longer litter tracked all over my apartment, makes me a much happier cat owner. I also don't find the refill price as expensive as others have- for me, 26$ for two months is around what I was paying for a bag of litter anyway. … more

Tidy Cats needs better quality control.

Mine didn't come with the kitten pads in the box. Not sure why. Didn't figure that out until after it was assembled, which was super frustrating because the (warped) plastic sifter (green part) didn't align correctly with the sidewalls or bottom, making it impossible to clasp the sidewall onto the base Mine didn't come with the kitten pads in the box. Not sure why. Didn't figure that out until after it was assembled, which was super frustrating because the (warped) plastic sifter (green part) didn't align correctly with the sidewalls or bottom, making it impossible to clasp the sidewall onto the base. (Clasping happens when the little kitten-face shaped buttons fit into the sidewall groove/slot on the sides.) Much force and time required to try to align everything together well enough to clamp the sides but since such force was required, it will be impossible to undo that without completely emptying the box and turning it on its side or upside down to pry the sidewall button off. Ugh! However, the cat took to it right away and it is usable-enough without the proper kitten pad and the warped/misaligned plastic parts. I would give this 5 stars if it hadn't been misshapen and 4 stars if it had only been missing the pads. (I ended up using some paper towels and scrap paper from my printer until I can get to Petsmart to buy the pads.) Company needs better quality control. … more
