The best way to transition to a new food is to switch gradually over the course of 7-10 days. For example, make a mixture that contains 25% of the new food and 75% of the old food and feed that for three days. Then make it 50-50 for three more days, then 75% new food and 25% old food for three more days. If your cat seems comfortable with this progression, you can start feeding 100% new food. If at any time your pet starts vomiting, has loose stools, or appears constipated, slow the rate at which you are switching the food. If problems continue to occur, consult your veterinarian.

My cats are obsessed with all things tiki cat and I figured I’d try the grill variety to switch things up for them. There are SO many bones in the sardine flavors. I understood that there would be bones from reading the FAQ and the other reviews, but it was advertised that these bones would be soft and not cooked to a degree where it would harden. These bones are SO hard and they’re huge!! They are absolutely rock hard. I’ve been finding so many of them in the cans that I will have actual piles of bones after I finish fishing them all out. My cats have been vomiting and choking, refusing to eat more food because of the ones I didn’t find. If you value your cat’s safety, please, do NOT buy this product. Stick to their other lines.
It's an okay brand. I don't mind the smell and Tiny seems to be okay with the recipes in this one, but this isn't the kind of food you want to buy as an auto-ship deal. Shellfish which include crab, lobster, and shrimp are present in these recipes, which means these cans are more of a moderation or occasional treat. I wouldn't feed it every day. Mercury levels are a must-watch when feeding Tiki cats as many fish in their recipes are typically moderately to high in mercury levels. Do your research before buying.
BUYER BEWARE: THERE ARE FISH BONES IN THE SARDINES! I want to start off with we have been buying tiki cat for our two adult cats for Years now. Our cats LOVE tiki cat. However, we recently bought this variety box to switch up their foods to keep them from getting bored. We fed them one of the cans with Sardines and within a day they were eating less, coughing, and trying to throw up even though their stomachs were empty. Upon inspecting the can and their throw up, there were FISH BONES. My cats have lost their meows and have irritated throats. I can’t get one of them to drink any water or eat anything else, whenever he does he coughs up another fish bone. I will NOT be buying this again. This is becoming a borderline medical emergency and I will be taking my cat into the vet over this. DO NOT BUY ANY CANS WITH SARDINES/FISH BONES!
I have a pretty strong stomach, but most of this food is so gross, I can barely get it in a bowl without gagging. HUNKS of fish with skin are in these cans. It smells so bad. The cats are 50/50 on it, so I won't buy it again.
I found small fish bones here and there. But In one can I found two whole vertebrae’s that were very large and hard. This could’ve choked my kitties. They also have a strong putrid smell and my cats will only eat like one flavor from this pack.
I have a picky cat and a cat who will eat ANY canned cat food. My non-picky cat would hardly touch this stuff. It smells SO bad.. and their poops will clear the whole city block. I wanted to like this stuff because the ingredients are good, and there are whole, large pieces of fish/crab in it... but if you ever want to have company come over again, you will steer clear of this cat food.
I bought this brand after it was recommended by multiple online sites. After noticing my cats weren't eating it, I look and see what was the picture below. Will not be buying again and hopefully can still return the other cans.
The ingredients list looks good, the can size is great, but unfortunately my 4 cats that are not generally picky eaters did not like it. One of them refused to eat it all together, the others would only eat a little bit then start begging for other food. Another thing I noticed is it made their breath smell awful.
Still testing the waters with this brand. This was the first of the variety packs I tried outside Purina wet food. I will admit I was a little leery at first because I opened the sardine/mackerel cans and was not expecting large chunks of fish. But I allowed the cats to sniff and surprisingly they ate a lot of it. I am trying other variety packs simultaneously. If you don't like the big chunks they do have pates to try. We'll see if they'll like it or not. Right now it's taste and leave it behind. They could just be picky...I'm going to keep trying.
My cats love it. They get so excited when the can opens and the smell hits the air. It’s like real chunks of fish. Kinda gross, but my cats go crazy for it, so it’s worth it to keep them happy
