The best way to transition to a new food is to switch gradually over the course of 7-10 days. For example, make a mixture that contains 25% of the new food and 75% of the old food and feed that for three days. Then make it 50-50 for three more days, then 75% new food and 25% old food for three more days. If your cat seems comfortable with this progression, you can start feeding 100% new food. If at any time your pet starts vomiting, has loose stools, or appears constipated, slow the rate at which you are switching the food. If problems continue to occur, consult your veterinarian.
I am trying to get a cat that I found/adopted to eat more protein and wholesome ingredients. It's true - this cat is not picky, she's eaten 95% of what I give her - but she gobbled this one right up with more gusto than the pates I've been feeding her. I like the protein and taurine content also because it turns out she is pregnant! So I'm trying to get her some quality ingredients and like what Tikicat has to offer so far, though I wish I they had more non-seafood options. I am trying to plan a future post-pregnancy diet and this is something I think I might give my cat once a week. We'll see. It can be kind of pricy but the larger can during a sale is not too bad.
I live with my cat & 3 other cats. 1 male, 3 female. We have tried every brand of catfood but shy away from the cheap, poor quality brands, like Friskies. This catfood isn't minced...it comes in big chunks, like dog food. 🙄 We have to chop it up, ourselves. Then, they might take a bite or two & walk away. I gave it it to my Sisters German Shepherds and they loved it, lol 😆 so atleast it wasn't wasted.
The cat food is great! But half the cans came dented. I couldn’t even use them! They looked like someone took a hammer to the sides and top. Very disappointed! Tiki is too expensive to throw out!
I ordered this thinking that my cat will love this since she loves seafood but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. She’ll take nibble or two of this then walk away. Not Chewy’s fault; on the contrary my order arrived quick! But will not be ordering more, I’ll donate the rest of the pack to my local animal shelter!
This food has a higher protien cound than a lot of the food available - which is critical as my cat is on chemo and the vet wants him eating a higp protien diet.
Upon tasting this, my cat did somersaults and went into a state absolute bliss. He insists upon it as his evening fair, every night.
Sorry, but none of my animals liked this food. Although I will be using Chewy again for other purchases, I won't be purchasing this food again as my animals didn't like it at all.
I tiy not to feed too much fish, but the cats do love it! Fussie Cat tuna and chicken has disappeared from shelves and is evidently sitting on container ships in the Pacific, so I tried this, and the cats LOVE IT!!! It is not mush like some tuna cat food. It is chunks of tuna and mackerel, and they clean up their plates!
Well I really like it the fish flavor and texture, I love the sound the can makes when it opens and that my human can add a little more to my bowl throughout the day. She told me this will be my new food cause I like it and it cost less money than my old food - like that matters!
My cats hated this. Not sure why as it has real tuna etc., in it.
