The best way to transition to a new food is to switch gradually over the course of 7-10 days. For example, make a mixture that contains 25% of the new food and 75% of the old food and feed that for three days. Then make it 50-50 for three more days, then 75% new food and 25% old food for three more days. If your cat seems comfortable with this progression, you can start feeding 100% new food. If at any time your pet starts vomiting, has loose stools, or appears constipated, slow the rate at which you are switching the food. If problems continue to occur, consult your veterinarian.

Emma, my tiny tiger (tabby), loves this Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau Chicken. She has tried the other flavors and, though we like the ingredients in all the Tiki products, Emma prefers this classic. The shreds are small and sized nicely for my little cat and it has a clear broth that she loves even more. The ingredients list meets with my approval and seems to have kept Emma very healthy for the past few years she's been eating it. The large cans are great if you have several cats eating this; we've found that the small cans stay fresh for longer if you're serving smaller portions to one cat alongside a healthy portion of quality kibble at each meal. We also like that the cans are packaged in a stacking format which helps maximize our pantry shelf space instead of having cans in a big, flat cardboard tray taking up too much room. All in all, a great value from flavor to price and packaging.
I thought my cats were sure to enjoy this, as they tried some of the other Tiki Cat 'luau' flavors before, and really enjoyed them.. this time, not so much. It doesn't smell super bad like other canned foods can, which I was excited about.. however, my (usually) chicken-loving youngest cat, who will just eat about anything regardless of texture, doesn't want to eat it. Her brother likes the juice though! Just won't eat the shredded chicken unless mixed with something else. I'm gonna use it as a 'filler' with other canned foods, so not a total waste.
I bought this food for my outdoor feral who needs a lot of energy during the cold winter months. He gobbles this product down like he's in a cat food commercial. The product looks good and smells good, and obviously, tastes good. It's expensive, but since my boy stays outside, I think he needs the best food possible to keep him going. Sometimes two cans do not seem to be enough. I highly recommend it.
The quality of the food used in this canned cat food seems to be really good, but it smells terrible and my cats refuse to eat it. They absolutely love the sardines (and those are smelly, too), but there is something weird about this chicken. I bought this same thing about a year ago and they didn't eat it then, either. Because the smell was bad back then, I figured that I just got a bad batch of cat food. Nooooo. It just plain smells bad and my cats turn their noses up and refuse to eat.
It smells good, but we don't like it. Other chicken cat foods are great. This has a stringy texture and is like cheap canned chicken.
This is a very good high protein food for cats. I got several different flavors, based on a list I got from my vet. My cat eats this as soon as I put down her food and there is usually nothing left.
Never had I had to toss canned cat food. Both cats and an English Mastiff refused to eat this stuff.
My 19 year old cat Koby now only gets canned food. He hasa lost some weight and now only gets high protein cat food. I found Tiki cat and he loves it. Thank goodness he loves this and he no longer needs shots.. This is because he no longer gets any dry food and hi protein canned. I am glad this is working for us.
we've been looking to change our food brand ever since Dave's lowered their food quality all the while increasing their food price. Tried a few other brands that didn't do well. Thanks to Tiki it was accepted by 7 of our 11 cats and the transition went extremely well, w no vomit or diarrhea. Highly recommend!
So this is difficult. The food is obviously good quality chicken, but my kitties are not fans. I think it's because there is not enough fat for them. They lick the broth and leave the meat.
