Feeding Instructions

Recommendations vary greatly, based on your cat’s age, activity level and life stage. For Adult Cats: Feed approximately 2-3 pouches per day per 7 lbs. of body weight. For Kittens: Offer food several times a day, feed up to twice this amount.

  • Pregnant or nursing cats may require two to four times their normal feeding.

  • Always provide access to clean, fresh water. Canned food should be changed at least twice daily in order to prevent spoilage. Serve at room temperature, and refrigerate any unused portion.

Transition Instructions

The best way to transition to a new food is to switch gradually over the course of 7-10 days. For example, make a mixture that contains 25% of the new food and 75% of the old food and feed that for three days. Then make it 50-50 for three more days, then 75% new food and 25% old food for three more days. If your cat seems comfortable with this progression, you can start feeding 100% new food. If at any time your pet starts vomiting, has loose stools, or appears constipated, slow the rate at which you are switching the food. If problems continue to occur, consult your veterinarian.

Good for cats who like to “lick” their wet food

By Chas on Oct 31, 2021

I wanted to get more wet food into my cats diet so I’ve tried EVERYTHING. Some she just won’t eat, some she just licks up the juices. The Tiki Cat velvet mousse is great because it doesn’t have any carbohydrates, is good quality, and my cat can lick away at it and actually get her nutrients!

    Not my favorite

By BooWinkle on Sep 14, 2021

Reviews say other kitties like this but it's not my favorite. I'll eat it if it's a last resort, but not with enthusiasm and I usually leave most in my bowl. My hooman tried mixing it in with my other food but that doesn't help. So my overall rating is 1 paw up and a weak meh.

Two out of Three Cats Say "Yes"

By squeakalicious on Jun 16, 2021

My big 17-pound boy scarfed this down and licked every molecule off of his saucer. One of my two girls ate all of hers, but she was slow to finish and not sure what she thought of the texture (some of it ended up on her nose). The second girlcat said "no, thank you." I didn't like the pouch packaging. It took too long to get the food out, too much of it was left behind in the pouch, and I got the mousse on my fingers and the counter trying to get the very last of it out. It was really messy. I also am not happy with the trend to put only 2.8 ounces of cat food in a can/pouch instead of the traditional 3 ounces. I get that companies would rather keep the price the same and reduce the amount you My big 17-pound boy scarfed this down and licked every molecule off of his saucer. Tiki's a high-quality brand, but I doubt I'd buy this mousse again. … more

I really wanted them to love it....

By RagdollMom on Jul 23, 2021

My Ragdoll boys seem to get tired of the same old thing so I thought I would give this a try. Unfortunately, they both took one sniff and walked away. Even the stray I have been feeding on my patio wouldn't eat it. I am very disappointed.

Five star rating from picky kitties!

By CarlyY on Jul 4, 2021

Both our senior male cat and young female love Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse. We bought the multi-flavor pack to start. They do not like the mackrel, but love the chicken and salmon flavors. We added this to their rotation to keep meal time interesting for these two picky eaters!

    Turning senior cats into kittens

By Joyce on May 31, 2021

Two of my 5 cats are geriatric. Both seventeen years old. They both had stopped eating and dropped a lot of weight. Now, our tiniest cat (4-5 pounds soaking wet) will not let me into the kitchen unless i give her the mousse. If she ate all her mousse, I give her the Tiki Kat dry food. I also give this to my other senior cat—he ignores the kibble my husband gives him and wolfs down the Tiki Kat. The tiny cat now plays with laser pointers and cat fishing toys.

    Our Go-to Wet Food

By Kate on May 22, 2021

We have two rescues who were abused and are missing teeth despite being very young. They struggled with other wet food and chewing meaty bits so I tried this. They LOVE their Tiki cat!

    Smooth Mouse

By LatrobePat on Apr 29, 2021

This has been a go to for my ill cat but the other cats in the family seem to find it very appealing too. Not too stinky and a very nice texture. A little difficult to get it all out of the packet

Searching for replacement for Hartz brand

By None on Apr 20, 2021

This was ordered as a substitute for Hartz lickable treats that my cats love. It is ok but they don't seem to eat as much & there is leftovers that I have to throw out. Waiting for the Hartz brand to be available again.

    Good stuff

By Katmom on May 5, 2021

Good nutritional quality and my picky eaters love it. They also like the chicken and egg flavor. As always, quick delivery from Chewy. Will definitely be reordering.
