Take a pinch of Pill Masker. Wrap the pill until completely covered. Feed like a treat. Store in a cool, dry place and keep container closed when not in use.
I have to give my kitty meds twice a day. Morning is 3 pills and evening is 4. This stuff is easy to use, just pull off a little, flatten it out, and wrap the pills in it. Only draw back I have is that I can't give to my kitty on an empty stomach because he will puke it up so I use it for the evening pills. For first thing in the morning, I still use lunch meat as it seems to be easier on his tummy than this item. Will still likely purchase again, though! I like it better than pill pockets because you can use as much or as little as you need without waste and I try to make the piece I have to administer as little as possible.
I was hoping this pill masker would be my answer! Frodo had three different pills to take and balked at taking them. I first tried a piece of masker alone and she wouldn’t touch it. Neither would Gandalf who usually eats anything. I know cats are finicky, but I tried! Maybe other cats or dogs would this “treat”.
I have to give my Cat a capsule, daily for 30 days for IBD, I did not want to stress him with a pill popper. I saw this and bought it. We are on day 5 of 30, my Cat is eating this with the capsule inside. It is a very good product.
I love this product as it helps mask the flavor of the pills I give my cat. Unfortunately the jar was smashed during transit with the lid broken off and the seal torn open. I still had my previous jar and was able to easily transfer the masker to it.
I have 3 cats, 1 recently diagnosed with heart disease. And he's now been prescribed 4 medications a day, 2 of which need to be given twice a day. Of the 3 cats, he is the trickiest one because he is not food motivated. Dude would starve if he had to just to avoid food that smells wrong. I've tried many things to get him to take his meds. No dice for hiding in treats, or other "fun foods", so we were forced to pill him the crappy way... open mouth, shove pill in, hold mouth closed. After a couple weeks, he was miserable and hiding from us all the time, and we were miserable for it. So we bought Tomlyns hoping it would be the answer, but really not betting on it. In the end, he (and neither of the other 2 cats) will eat like a treat. But it helps SO much to wrap all his pills in the paste, then drop it in the crappy way. No more foamy mouth, and stress levels are reduced quite a bit now when it comes to pill giving. He's still not a fan of the process... but he fights masked pills way less than before! Small enough pills/balls make it easier, too. I wouldn't bet on your cat loving the taste and just eating it on its own. But as designed, it masks taste/smell of bitter pills, and once slobbered on a bit, it goes down relatively easy. My stress levels are way down knowing he's getting his meds, and though he's still getting pilled, he's not hiding from us anymore. Gave this a 4 because it does its job, but I would have loved if it worked as a treat... I hold out hope that maybe someday... he'll accept it like one.
I decided to try this pill-masker out as a change of flavor after using another peanut butter flavor pill paste. The bacon flavor is certainly a hit and a little goes a long way depending on the size of pill. Mine gets a half tablet twice a day so it's very easy to use a little paste to form around the pill and make a nice compact little treat ball and he's none the wiser.
Tried to give this to my cat 3 times (3 dofferent days), gagged first 2 days, 3rd day she puked EVERYWHERE and you could see her discomfort. DO NOT BUY THIS.
my cat is insanely hard to pill - i bought this hoping to help things along but she only fell for the paste once and refused to touch it afterwards.
Smells good but cat will not take it. Spitting it out unless you shove it in his mouth. Thought it would make it easier to get the medication down.
My senior cat is now on thyroid medicine. Trying to find a way to keep him from spitting out his pill has been a challenge. Everything works for a few days, then he figures it out and I find his pill on the floor. Not anymore! I began using Tomlyn pill masker about three weeks ago and he hasn't missed a pill since. He loves it, it only takes a little and he now gets the medication he needs, twice a day, every day.
