This is the easiest way to give our cats meds. We've even taken to just giving them this as a small treat. We weren't sure if the bacon flavor would be something they'd love, but they both seem to enjoy it quite a bit!
My dog stopped taking the pill pockets, cheese, turkey meat, and tuna wouldn't hold the pills, so I was desperate to find something my dog would take. I came across Tomlyn pill-masker and thought I doubt my dog will take this. I was very surprised to see that he loves this paste. It has a pleasant smell and it forms to any shape and size you need. This paste is incredible. Thank you so much!
Nothing I did got my dog to take his heart med. Peanut butter, burger, lunchmeat. This Tomlyn wrap is helping my dog's heart failure because he takes his pill now. He has actually played with us after a week of regularly taking his med.
REVIEW IS FOR DOG (have not tried with a cat). I have several issues with this product. The first is the ingredients. I’ve never seen those words before, which is always a bad sign. My vet said I could try it but it might upset my dogs stomach. My doggo is small and has an underbite, he’s the opposite of a gobbler, he is very wary of what he eats. To be fair, I haven’t found anything that works long term. I was so excited when it worked at 1st (I did have to use more than you probably would have to for the average dog) but after several days he found the pill inside and now he licks the product off. Once you put a pill in it, that pill starts to disintegrate. We’re back to forcing open his mouth and sticking it in the back of his throat. I will say that this makes them go down a little easier as he doesn’t gag afterwards. If you have a pet that isn’t a detective like mine, it’ll probably work. I would check with your vet though because those ingredients are not nearly natural. I chose this one over the other flavor because it has less of these chemicals in it and the flavor wasn’t the problem. Will probably work for a gobbler.
My cat absolutely had no interest in this product. It didn't smell like bacon and it was an unusual consistency. I'll donate it to a shelter.
Ever tried to give pills to cats? It's not fun. But my cat thinks this stuff is a super special treat that only he gets, and his pills just happen to be in it. We only get the bacon flavor. If I tell him to come take his medicine, he does, happily.
I’ve been having difficulty getting Finnegan to take his heart medications until I found Tomlyn Pill-Masker. Two of his meds have a beef flavor that he doesn’t care for. Thankfully the Tomlyn Pill-Masker actually masks the smell and look of the pill. I’m finally less stressed about Finnegan taking his medications.
My Boston is very good at detecting a hidden pill. Even wrapped in cheese, he can spit a pill out. This stuff was a big hit with him as a treat and when I snuck his new pill into it, he didn’t even notice! A big win in our house!
I buy this item very frequently because we have a Labrador with Addison's disease who needs 14 pills administered 2x daily. Between the repeated price hikes and the last several orders having packaging defects, I am considering an alternative. I reported the issues with the packaging in December 2022 and it appears every time we open a new jar the same issue has persisted. The top paper of the seal is intact, but the foil underneath is not properly adhering to the rim of the jar, resulting in the paste being dried out and hard. Because we keep multiple on hand and my husband or I could be the one to open a new jar any given day, I've now had to start dating the jars with a Sharpie to match which jar was in which order in case this continues, which it has as of our last March 2023 order. Chewy should audit all of its existing stock and hold the manufacturer accountable for this defect since it is still ongoing and has not been resolved 4 months later. The price has become ridiculous as well. When we first started buying this years ago this little 4oz jar was 4.99 and it's jumped to 11.99! Really disappointed with the huge increase AND poor quality. I would love to keep using this and recommend it because we've relied on it so much (daily) but it is seeming to not be worth it anymore.
I ordered this product for my VERY finicky cat, who must take thyroid meds twice a day. Of course, she wouldn't touch it. I passed it along to my neighbor, who has three cats on daily medication, and they are over the moon for it! LOL, she's started to use it for clicker training with them! I could not be happier for my neighbor and her cats!
