  • muzzle works fine

    By on

Our miniature horse Marcee was having problems walking and the veterinarian said she needed to lose weight, and among other things, to wear a grazing muzzle. At first, I bought another brand and she (a) did not like wearing it (b)would find ways to get it off. So I looked for another one and found The Tough 1 on Chewy.com. It works very well, restricts her intake of grass and she is losing weight. Further, her walking has improved. Great product, highly recommended it if your horse, large or small, has to wear one.

  • Best GM ever!!!

    By on

Our easy keepers must have a grazing muzzle on during most of the year. This is the most humane GM I have come across and my guys keep it on as long as long as I don't pair it with a fly mask. I replace mine once a year because my horses wear the eating access hole open over time. Prior to discovering this GM my mini would nearly hyperventilate at having a bulky old fashioned GM put over his nose. Now he stands still to have it removed, cleaned, and reapplied without being tethered.

  • The best muzzle I have bought yet

    By on

I had been trying one with wool lining hoping it wouldn't mark up his face. Understandably, he has never liked having his muzzle put on, but he doesn't fight this easy breath one which leads me to believe he is far more comfortable himself. He also hasn't gotten it off, which he usually does. I'm not sure if he just finds it more comfortable or what. For sizing, he is a clunky headed walking horse so I got a large and it fits.

  • Beware Sizing

I already owned one of these muzzles in a yearling size for my large pony. I liked it - but he kept flipping it off over his nose and the straps were borderline too short (I had them extended out all the way and it barely fit). I'd find him with the whole contraption dangling around his neck, and that made me nervous as heck. So, I ordered the pony sized one from here. While the straps were a lot longer and I was able to get them adjusted to fit him better, the "bucket" part was way too small. He went from not minding it, to yanking it off before I had driven off the farm. I ended up back in the original yearling sized one and rigging a piece of bailing twine straight down from the crown I already owned one of these muzzles in a yearling size for my large pony. I ended up back in the original yearling sized one and rigging a piece of bailing twine straight down from the crown to the front of the muzzle (tried to attached photo but apparently my cell phone photo is too large). And yes, he hates me for it. Long story short is that the sizing on these just stink. They need the pony sized straps on the yearling sized muzzle! I'm now stuck with a pony sized muzzle that doesn't fit my pony. Splain that one! The other thing I find it necessary to mention is the sub-par velcro straps. I'd get to the barn and find it almost completely undone. I had to duct tape it to keep it closed. So, my fancy little show pony is looking pretty ghetto in his bailing twine and duct taped, ill-fitting muzzle! … more

  • Nicely made

    By on

I've never had to use a grazing muzzle before, but have taken in a mini who has some metabolic issues and can't graze too much or she will founder. The muzzle seems to fit her nicely and she doesn't mind having it on. I like that there is a rind at the bottom so I can clip her lead rope to it to walk her out to pasture. The slip buckle at the top makes it easy to adjust so it's not too tight on her head, too.

  • Great muzzle, shipping did not take two days though

    By on

I ordered the muzzle from this company because it said they had free two day shipping with purchase over a certain amount. It took 6-7 days before arrival which was a bit of a disappointment. The muzzle in itself is great. My horse is doing well with it, it helps him to not overeat and still be able to be in pasture during the day!

  • Great Grazing Muzzle at a Great Price.

Lightweight, adjustable, allows the pony to be out with the other horses rather than in her stall.Love it and Chewey once again comes through with the best product for the most reasonable amount.

  • Easy Breath Grazing Muzzle

    By on

We were trying to slow down his eating rate but when we received this item we realized the same thing that makes it very well constructed also makes it very heavy for him. Maybe some horses are large enough to handle it but ours would rub a place on his nose in a day. Thanks but I think the basket that attaches to his halter might be a better way to go. So while we recommend it for some just not for ours.

  • Easy grazing horse muzzle

I strongly recommend this muzzle. I have a miniature horse that never stops eating. With this muzzle I can be at ease letting her in the pasture for longer periods of time

  • Tough one grazing muzzle

I think this is a good muzzle for my horses. One more strap under the back of the jaw might be more helpful. I do like that it is adjustable.
