Tough-1 Easy Breathe Easy Grazing Horse Muzzle, Black

I bought two for my two Haflingers that need to loose weight. They adapted to grazing with them on quickly but also managed to figure out how to rub them off. One did it occasionally and one routinely. Having to walk the fields to find the muzzles was annoying enough, and then putting them back on made me wonder if my easy to catch horses would resist being caught after they understood I was putting them back on. I watched one roll and then rub his head on the ground till he slipped it off. I then bought the same brand but with a V hanger on the nose piece and that stayed on my talented remover.(more expensive). I liked the open area for breathing in our hot humid summer this year.

Our miniature horse Marcee was having problems walking and the veterinarian said she needed to lose weight, and among other things, to wear a grazing muzzle. At first, I bought another brand and she (a) did not like wearing it (b)would find ways to get it off. So I looked for another one and found The Tough 1 on Chewy.com. It works very well, restricts her intake of grass and she is losing weight. Further, her walking has improved. Great product, highly recommended it if your horse, large or small, has to wear one.

The large holes for breathing make this muzzle the best one I've found. More agressive eaters can widen the eating hole quicker than some like, but this is the only muzzle my pony will eat and drink with it on. Without the breathing holes she goes on an unhealthy hunger strike!

I had recently purchased a grazing muzzle by a different brand that was too snug for my horse. She's 16.2 and has a head to match her size. This was a great fit for her all around. She's been wearing it comfortably for about 2 weeks now and it seems to be holding it up well.

I've never had to use a grazing muzzle before, but have taken in a mini who has some metabolic issues and can't graze too much or she will founder. The muzzle seems to fit her nicely and she doesn't mind having it on. I like that there is a rind at the bottom so I can clip her lead rope to it to walk her out to pasture. The slip buckle at the top makes it easy to adjust so it's not too tight on her head, too.

Lightweight, adjustable, allows the pony to be out with the other horses rather than in her stall.Love it and Chewey once again comes through with the best product for the most reasonable amount.

I already owned one of these muzzles in a yearling size for my large pony. I liked it - but he kept flipping it off over his nose and the straps were borderline too short (I had them extended out all the way and it barely fit). I'd find him with the whole contraption dangling around his neck, and that made me nervous as heck. So, I ordered the pony sized one from here. While the straps were a lot longer and I was able to get them adjusted to fit him better, the "bucket" part was way too small. He went from not minding it, to yanking it off before I had driven off the farm. I ended up back in the original yearling sized one and rigging a piece of bailing twine straight down from the crown I already owned one of these muzzles in a yearling size for my large pony. And yes, he hates me for it. Long story short is that the sizing on these just stink. They need the pony sized straps on the yearling sized muzzle! I'm now stuck with a pony sized muzzle that doesn't fit my pony. Splain that one! The other thing I find it necessary to mention is the sub-par velcro straps. I'd get to the barn and find it almost completely undone. I had to duct tape it to keep it closed. I think this is a good muzzle for my horses. One more strap under the back of the jaw might be more helpful. I do like that it is adjustable.

Our easy keepers must have a grazing muzzle on during most of the year. This is the most humane GM I have come across and my guys keep it on as long as long as I don't pair it with a fly mask. I replace mine once a year because my horses wear the eating access hole open over time. Prior to discovering this GM my mini would nearly hyperventilate at having a bulky old fashioned GM put over his nose. Now he stands still to have it removed, cleaned, and reapplied without being tethered.

We were trying to slow down his eating rate but when we received this item we realized the same thing that makes it very well constructed also makes it very heavy for him. Maybe some horses are large enough to handle it but ours would rub a place on his nose in a day. Thanks but I think the basket that attaches to his halter might be a better way to go. So while we recommend it for some just not for ours.
