Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.
Your pet may have a specific health need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. For example:
Always talk with your veterinarian about any concerns you have about your pets health so they can prescribe a treatment for your pets unique needs.

It is not required to have a written prescription on hand when you place your order, but Chewy Pharmacy must have a patient-specific prescription from a licensed veterinarian on file before it can dispense a medication. At checkout, simply select: I want Chewy to contact my vet, and we will contact your veterinarian on your behalf to get your pets prescription. In what world of a disease would it make sense to give any living being a pill heavily coated in blue dye! My dog has been on trilostane for 5 years and was doing as well as can be expected then a forced switch in pills, which I did not agree to and she declines within a week to where it’s I get a , “it’s going to cost $6k to see if she can be helped”. I took her off the blue pills and she’s recovered but now I have to go back to the brand name- get what you pay for.
So glad to have the compounding service available from Chewy! I couldn't afford to keep my dog alive if not for this medication. Works just as expected.
Happy with the whole process beginning to end! Gus is better now although this will be a lifelong journey! Chewy was quick to get the prescription from our vet and get it mailed out! I put it on auto so I don’t have to remember to order every 7 weeks!
My Vet does not offer the generic version so finding it on chewy and saving $140 a month is a blessing. So far there’s no difference in her reaction between the two.
This was my first time using the Chewy Pharmacy. It was easy and quick and the options as far as dosages was far greater than I have been able to get from my vet. In this case I was able to get the exact dosage I needed without having to cut a tablet into multiple pieces. This allows for better consistency in medication for my pet and ease for me to not having to cut up tablets, nor wasting some in the process.
My first time to work with Chewy on a prescription I was extremely satisfied with their knowledge and order process. Their prices are incredibly competitive. So pleased with my change over to Chewy.
I saved so much money on Gotti's medicine I am just thrilled with chewy.com.
I was skeptical but it works. I’m very happy with it.
Great price and great service. Hard to do better than that. Thanks
I did some checking before I ordered the Trilostane for my senior girl, who has Cushings Disease. And Chewy has the most cost effective prices. The reason I didn't give it a 5, was that I had to purchase twice as many capsules (240 @22.5 mg, I saved on p & h buying bulk) as I am required to give to her twice a day, which will last 4 months, instead of longer. The perscription that I had before was tablet form for 45mg. That way, I could save money by breaking the tablet in half for the amount that she needed. $250+ is a lot to pay still for me and my limited budget (I am a senior myself).
