Great step - assembly parts the pits!!!

By Houston on Dec 23, 2020

Great step, just what we needed. BUT the assembly instructions printed so small you'll need a magnifying glass to read them accurately. You'll also need at least 4 hands, preferable small hands. The wooden alignment dowels (pos. 3) were loose in their holes, and since you have to turn 1 side upside down they fall out. Trying to align the dowels and pegs to get the 1 side installed is a real pain and why you need 4 hands. The peg (pos. 1) and zinc locks (pos. 2) are very difficult to get all of them installed, aligned, tight at the same time. Why they make the assembly so difficult I don't understand. I would much rather have screws with color matched heads. That would make assembly Great step, just what we needed. I would much rather have screws with color matched heads. That would make assembly easier and and plenty strong enough. Plus reduce the manufacturing costs by eliminating the drilling of various blind holes. Just 1 shank size hole and one thread size hole per screw. I am reasonable mechanically inclined and have assemble various products from various vendors and this is one of the most frustrating. … more

    assembling stairs

By doglover on Nov 30, 2020

these stairs are attractive but a bear to put together. not for the elderly or one person. it took my husband and i (he did most of the work) 3 hours to assemble the stairs. the instructions were not very clear. my advice is to buy these stairs assembled before being sent to you.

    Good choice

By GretasMom on Oct 18, 2020

I chose these steps because they were the tallest I found, and I thought they would feel more sturdy for my dog than those made from foam. I also thought the fact that there are sides would make her more confident. I honestly did not think she would use them, as she wouldn’t use the ramp I got for the car. However, after only a couple times coaching her with treats she now goes right up & down. The steps were easy to assemble and feel sturdy; have been using them for about a month with no issue. My dog is a 60 lb American Staffordshire Terrier. The only change I would make in the design is to make each step a little deeper. I am happy with the purchase.

    Terrible product

By Sabine on Sep 25, 2020

The Trixie Pet Steps are very poorly made and even though I carefully assembled it, it started falling apart within 3 days. It also smells very strongly of chemicals and the wooden connectors and screws provide no solid anchoring. A useless product now sitting in my garage in pieces.

Very good, wide steps a plus

By SherryNYC on Aug 24, 2020

It seems fairly sturdy, didn't take too long to assemble and does not move when used - that is the key. It wasn't as sturdy until the back went on it using the (included) wood screws. I don't think I would go anywhere near the weight listed - our pup is 40lbs and maybe just a bit more than that would be the limit. I like the compact design and the "sides". Received it a few days ago and the pup already is going down the stairs, now just need to get him to go up.

    High quality

By Kimb on Jan 1, 2021

Looks really nice, rich wood tone. My cat is using it to get on the bed with no problems.

    not what I expected

By kobekash on Jun 11, 2020

The physical appearance was exactly as advertised! But the pieces were weak , as soon as my dog stepped on the top step he fell through and cried. The step wood from the step broke in half and the pieces went flying and the backing snapped off . Definitely not up to the weight limit it says as my dog is half the weight listed. Could be great for small breed dogs / cats. I do not recommend for medium or large breeds .

    very sturdy & attractive.

By Linde on Apr 24, 2020

Our steps arrived today and our 13 year old has had a couple training sessions. By tomorrow I’m sure she’ll be flying up them. Very sturdy and attractive. Like the wider steps.
