Not sure how people expect to give a weight management food to a dog and not expect them to poop more. Basics here: more fiber, less calories (fat). The dog still thinks its eating a ton but they obviously will poop more than a higher calorie kibble. Besides that, my 3 dogs eat it just fine. This food targets my giant schnauzer, which is on a constant diet. My giant schnauzer loves it as much as she loves anything else. My great dane is extremely picky eater and I only feed this one when I need to grab is interest while adding a "new" food on his plate. The little mutt eats it just fine. Again, its a weight management food, not much calories per cup aa a regular food. But the dog feels up and poops more without gaining weight.
We bought this for our bully breed specifically because he has a sensitive stomach but both dogs needed some weight control food. They both love the food. Our other pup was barely eating the last food we had previous to this but she loves this one. The best part is it actually works for weight loss. The vets were actually in shock that they lost as much weight as they did and they are in a much healthier range. We can see the difference in their activity level as well. I will agree with the other comments that it does make them poop more. We even asked the vet who said more fiber = more poop. We are going to switch to the same formula but without weight control because within a year they are doing so much better after years of trying other foods and reducing food intake, etc.
Our 107 lb yellow lab is now 88 lbs after 3 months! He eats really fast and gained weight since he was a puppy. Tried the vet recommended RX Diet that was $112 a bag. True Acre weight control is good enough for our other dogs, and cheaper. Our Cocker lost 5 lbs too! Strongly recommend!
I don’t know what this company has done to this food from the food they discontinued but my dogs will not eat it. I have to put something in their bowls in order for the food to be ate. I use to buy the weight control food that was NOT grain free and they loved it. They were always excited for meals. And I do believe grain free food is actually not good for dogs per veterinary personal.
We have fed our 7 yo hound and almost 2 yo Great Dane this food. They both poop SO MUCH more when they eat this food than any other food, same times of day/amounts. Our Great Dane has not needed to go out in the middle of the night in well over a year, since she was a small puppy. But eating this food she needs to go out in the middle of the night several nights a week, sometimes more than once in the middle of the night! They must not be getting as much nutrients from the food or something, because I cannot imagine any other explanation. After we switched our hounds food he went back to pooping less, similar to the amount he always has, so it is definitely the food and not some other medical problem.
Due to Chewy no longer offering True Acres Farmhouse Blend, I tried this one instead. The dogs will only eat it if I add something else to it. If I put it out by itself it will sit. All 6 dogs agree. Bring back Farmhouse Blend, they really liked it. I'm looking for something new to feed them.
Both my digs "wolf" it down. I've fed this to them for two years now and their weight is just about perfect. One is 6 years old and the other is 10. Both are active and healthy
My pitbull is a super picky eater. I havebeen using Rachel Rays Grain Free Nutrish food for years and my dog would not eat it by itself. However, this food she will eat without hesitation! Also, I think this have a better price point too.
Have been giving my 5 dogs Rachel Ray Nutrish for years, thought i'd try something new, preferably grain free. Tried True acre and all 5 dogs seem to really like it a lot. Will continue purchasing as long as i can afford it in my budget.
Wanted a good balance diet for my Chiweenie and she is so far doing great with this!
