Dogs have individual requirements for nutrition and energy even if the same size; therefore, use the chart below listing the recommended feeding guidelines as a starting point and adjust the portions fed to achieve ideal body weight of your dog. Puppies may need up to twice the amounts, and nursing/pregnant mothers up to 3 times the amounts shown per given body weight.
When switching from your old food, it is best to allow 7-10 days transitional period. To switch, slowly add more of the Tuscan Natural food and less of the old food every meal until you are using Tuscan Natural exclusively.
I agreed to substitute this product because my pets' normal product (Tuscan Natural Harvest Chicken & Turkey) was out of stock. Chewy representative was wonderful - she went above and beyond assisting me to choose a substitute that would be close to what we normally purchase. I have three small dogs and one is elderly with multiple health issues. So, while I am certain this product is a close match, my pets did not agree! The kibble size was much larger than their normal which made it more difficult for them to eat due to having only a few teeth remaining. I am fairly certain that contributed to them turning their noses up and not eating their normal amount. (I even moistened it so it would be soft and easier for them to consume.)
I bought this kibble after reading reviews and carefully reviewing the ingredients. It arrived yesterday and we began to transition our 15 week old labradoodle over to it by mixing it in to the Merrick puppy food she's been eating, but has had slightly loose large stools so we wanted to try something different. Addie is a ravenous eater, but she WILL NOT touch this kibble. Frankly, it smells like old fish so I can't say I blame her. Now we're stuck with a bag of dog food. Would not recommend. Thankfully, Chewy's return policy is awesome and we were able to get a credit and donate the unused food to our local Humane Society.
Quick delivery, competitive pricing. We use Chewy for our 8-year old Schnauzer pup.
Our dogs like the taste of this food, but I mix a small amount of it with other dry food and canned food due to the high fat content. Older couch potatoes don't need so much fat in their food. Seems quite expensive as well.
My two rat terriers seem to like this food and it agrees with them. I serve it to them with a freeze-dried raw product on top. I have been looking for this product for some time and am glad Chewy's now carries it.
This food is not only healthy (without harmful ingredients), but also our 4-month old standard poodle puppy's favorite. He hasn't liked any of the other foods we tried to feed him. This is the only food he consistently enjoys and doesn't let go to waste. He has healthy poops and is steadily growing.
My 95lb boxer loves this food. My 5lb Yorkie does too. It just a little to much for the little one. Gives them both gas. Mixed a 50/50 with one of their other flavors and that helped a ton.
Yogi (my little guy) has many peculiar habits, probably typical of an abandoned rescue. One is food. OMG, what I go through sometimes. But this he eats. Time and time again, if I just mix in a few small treats and a drop of oil (for moisture per the vet) in with it, he eats it, to my great relief. Most everything else I've tried that's grain free (per the vet, again), he won't touch.
My dog is a somewhat picky eater and he loves this food. My cat is incredibly picky and she steals it from him. :)
Our Schnauzer is allergic to some items and this dog food is something she will eat and causes no issues.
