My 9 month old Husky started to get really picky about her kibble to the point where she wouldn't eat food for the entire day. The only way I could get her to eat was to throw on some canned food. When I saw the Tylees buy one get one free deal I was interested to use this as a topper. Instead Athena would just eat the Tylees and leave the kibble alone, so I figured why not just change it over completely. She's tried the chicken and the beef and loves both. The bag itself will last about a week and half or so. Chewy packages the bags in a styrofoam insulated box with dry ice, both bags came frozen. • Dogs loved it

    By on

I decided to try the Tylee's food during a sitewide promotion. It arrived with dry ice and still frozen - very impressed! I followed the directions for defrosting it (I did the whole bag as I have a lot of dogs) and I used it as a topper and mixed in with my dogs' regular food. They LOVED IT. They are chow hounds normally but this was a whole new level. When I ran out, they actually looked for the Tylees in their bowls. Four Stars only because feeding 100% Tylees is not practical for the number of dogs I have - if I had one or 2 I probably would give this to them daily. But we got more because it can remain frozen up to a year. It is good to have on hand!

  • Doggy Approved

    By on

I bought a bag of each flavor except chicken, and fed it to the dogs on days I didn't feel like cooking for them, and they really liked it. It's too expensive to feed on a regular basis to all of them, but it seems to be a pretty good food. I added a angus patty to each meal too so they'd get a little more protein. This would be good to take with you to the dog show or event or even to travel with. It's good for an older dog who doesn't have much teeth or an ailing dog too. It looks and smells fresh, and they liked it even thawed out of the refrigerator when generally they like their food heated up a little bit.

  • Convenient and Real Food

I feed this as a diet base for my 90-lb dog. If I had a smaller dog, I would use this as a diet. For me, It would be incredibly expensive to feed as a diet alone so I do half home-cooked. The other half of his diet is leaner home cooked mix (ground meat, lentils, veggies). I add a half dose of Nupro daily. The meat in tylees is basically heart meat (the #1 ingredient and very nutritious but does have a "earthy" aroma). Tylees is a little higher in fat (check dog food adviser or the label) if you have a small dog that has issues with richer foods maybe try the chicken I think it's leaner. This comes frozen in dry ice and I've never had an issue. With this, his poop doesn't stink and is solid I feed this as a diet base for my 90-lb dog. I don't see the veggies on the other end. :) He also drinks less. My dog used to drink two giant gallons of water a day and now he literally just sips a small bowl after exercise. Looking back, I'm sure eating the amount of dried (6 cups of lowfat food) pulled so much moisture out of his body. I was nervous about home-cooking and having this as a base made it feel safer. If your dog has allergies, this is also nice because it is single-protein. So you can test whether they can tolerate other proteins. Like I knew my guy was cool with beef so then I tried this, then chicken + this, pork + this, etc. When dogs eat real food, they are far less sensitive. It's not like changing dog foods where you add a cup of something and their body freaks out. I find that really abnormal. When you start feeding them FOOD, it's like when you eat food, they begin to enjoy the variety and are more enthusiastic and can eat new foods without consequences. He licks the bowl clear across the floor even after it's gone. … more

  • Great food!

    By on

My dog seems to thoroughly enjoy this food! His skin irritations have lessened since switching from dry dog food. Will definitely be purchasing again and will definitely recommend this to anyone with a dog. My little dog and I can't wait to order other flavors to try. He can't seem to get enough and is always excited when I grab the bag and scoop for dinner time. Thank you Tylee's and Chewy.com for having a great deal on this food so we could try it out!

  • Our Sick dog Loves It

Our dog is diabetic and recently diagnosed with a mass. The mass is pushing other organs out of,place causing discomfort. So our dog has gotten really picky (she is a beagle mix, so you know how bad she must feel to give up food). We were just about on an entire can food diet and then she wouldn't eat that either. Enter Tylees. She loves it, even to the point of standing at the refrigerator hoping for more. We have been able to go back to her diabetic dry food and use this as a topper. Very happy and hopefully she likes it for the months to come. Our other dog loves it too, more than his wet food that we used as a topper. • he is a picky eater

    By on

I have to be very careful about what I feed Rascal because he is allergic to so many things and he also has Epilepsy. Most of the time I cook his meals but this makes it so much easier for me. He likes it so it must taste good because like I said he is a picky eater. He likes it better if I warm it up but then I wouldn't like a steady diet of cold food either. It is very convenient.

  • Terrible Value

    By on

This food came in dust more than pieces. The frozen dust pieces turned to a concrete mush that my dog wouldn't eat and I honestly don't blame her. I ended up having to put the food into a colander and rinse it under cold water to get the mush up and lost half of the bag. I will never order this again, what a waste of money.

  • my dog doesn't eat it :(

    By on

I usually feed my dog both kibble and home cook food. She likes both of them so I was really excited to try the Tylee's dog food. It is exactly same idea of the way I cook for her. But, unfortunately, my dog does not like the food :( I got beef and chicken because I usually cook for her with beef and chicken but for some reasons, she kinda hesitates eating it. She smells then walks back then eats and does not finish. Her stool also gets loose. I don't know why but I can tell that this is not for her. Very sad because I will just have to waste them :(

  • My 4 dogs like it

    By on

Surprisingly, all 4 of my picky dogs like this. They are picky so it is difficult to find food they all like. Some of them avoid the larger chunks of broccoli and the small chunks of mango if they can. But, overall, it's a win. Unfortunately, I purchased it on a buy one get on free. I can't afford the full price all the time.
