Active Ingredient: Omeprazole.
The minimum recommended dosage is 1 mg/kg per day (0.45 mg/lb). Each syringe contains 4 individual daily doses for horses weighing 600-1200 lbs. Please refer to the following for help in determining the correct dose for your horse. • Less than 600 lbs- Consult a veterinarian • 600-1200 lbs 1 dose per day • over 1200 lbs 2 doses once per day.
Store at 68 degrees F- 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C). Excursions between 59 degrees F- 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) are permitted.
Syringe Instructions: 1. To set the syringe plunger, while holding plunger, turn the knurled ring on the plunger ¼ turn to the left and slide the knurled ring along the plunger shaft so the side nearest the barrel is at the appropriate daily dose marking, aligning the arrow on the plunger with the notch on the ring, as shown in the pictogram on package insert. 2. Lock the ring in place by making ¼ turn to the right. Ensure it is locked (it should no longer slide). 3. Make sure horse’s mouth contains no feed before administration. 4. Remove syringe tip cover. 5. Insert syringe into the corner of the horse’s mouth. 6. Depress the plunger until it stops at the dose ring. • The entire dose should be deposited on the back of the tongue or deep in the cheek pouch. • Horses should be observed briefly to assure no part of the dose is lost or rejected. • If any of the dose is lost, re-dosing is recommended. • Replace cap if any unused doses remain in the syringe.
ULCERGARD® works by decreasing gastric acid secretion. Most stomach ulcers are caused by prolonged contact between acid and the lining of the stomach so by reducing acid, the formation of ulcers can be prevented.
Yes. In both field trials and placebo-controlled safety studies, no adverse events were observed when horses were treated as recommended with ULCERGARD®.
ULCERGARD® contains a unique paste formulation that protects the omeprazole allowing it to remain stable and reach the site of absorption. ULCERGARD® is the only equine stomach ulcer prevention proven to be safe, effective and approved by the FDA.
The only way to definitively diagnose gastric ulcers is with an endoscopic examination. So, if you suspect your horse already has ulcers, work with your veterinarian to confirm their presence, location and severity to dictate appropriate treatment. In terms of ulcer prevention, we can assume that ULCERGARD® is working if the horse does not develop clinical signs of ulcers in the face of risk factors. Endoscopic exam can also be used to confirm the lack of ulcer development.
SYRINGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Yes, if any of the dose is lost, re-dosing is recommended.
Can ULCERGARD® be used on pregnant or nursing horses? Safety in pregnant and lactating mares has not been determined. ULCERGARD® may be used safely in breeding stallions.
ULCERGARD® is a preventative for gastric ulcers in horses that weigh at least 600 pounds. The effectiveness in horses below 600 pounds has not been evaluated.
ULCERGARD® is only approved for use in horses.

my horse is better, so this may have helped, but really there is no way to know if he would gotten better without it. I ended up giving two tubes over 4 days. It is very expensive to not know for sure.
Excellent product. Giving to our 29 year old Thoroughbred for ulcers.
quick delivery from chewy. horse had relief overnight after using ulcergard. only wish it wasn't so expensive!
Ulcergard works a lot like Gastrogard, Omeprazole being the main ingredient to help relieve equine ulcers.
Stated to have quick release!! The release buttons are hard to work! Nnn
Everyone else was out of stock and found it priced lower on Chewy.
