Description

Ulticare Insulin Syringes/Needles U-40 29 Gauge x 0.5-in with 1/2 unit markings are used for the injection of U-40 (40 units per ml) insulin in pets with diabetes. However, it’s important to note that more than one concentration of insulin exists, so be sure that the syringe used matches the type of insulin prescribed for your pet.

Uses

Syringes are primarily used to administer insulin to dogs and cats.

Precautions

Used sharps should be immediately placed in a sharps disposal container. FDA-cleared sharps containers are generally available through pharmacies, medical supply companies, health care providers and online. These containers are made of puncture-resistant plastic with leak-resistant sides and bottom. They also have a tight fitting, puncture-resistant lid. If an FDA-cleared container is not available a heavy-duty plastic household container, such as a laundry detergent container can be used as an alternative.

    Great syringes

By schnauzermom on Aug 18, 2021

I’ve found these to be my favorite when I adopted my diabetic dog. The needle gauge is just right and the amount is perfect for his dosage. I used to have 1/2 unit markings but as I adjusted his dosage to a whole number, we now use this type. No complaints. We used to buy the plastic storage container from this brand which also came with the syringes, but since buying a needle clipper, we no longer needed that. I do trust this brand. If you’re new to diabetes, make sure you get the right kind *(U-40 for Vetsulin and U-100 for Novolin)*. If your dog has a small dosage, say 1-10 then a smaller syringe would be better for you. If you administer, say 7.5, then make sure your have half units marked I’ve found these to be my favorite when I adopted my diabetic dog. I like the plunger covers and the needle caps work well to prevent accidental poking. Thankfully my dog is very good and literally stands there waiting for his shot, but I still say this is a good gauge for a needle size for my miniature schnauzer who doesn’t have incredibly thick skin. … more

    Less plastic

By Kitty on Jul 12, 2021

Previously I bought these syringes with the Safe Pack which included a dispenser for fresh syringes and collected used ones, all in one heavy duty plastic container. But why add to the medical waste with more PLASTIC. Just as easy to recycle old plastic take out (food) containers instead of promoting the manufacture and use of plastic which is damaging to the environment.

These are the same ones my Vet sold me but at a higher price

By Debbie on Jul 27, 2021

My vet only sells these with the sharps container. I am diabetic and already have a container so these were perfect and cheaper for me.

    Always Sharp, Do Not Bend

By Mailbag on May 17, 2021

When our Yorkie mix was diagnosed diabetic we purchased 2 boxes of a different brand of syringes from the Vets office that bent and didn't seam sharp, causing waste of insulin. So we went to Chewy website to see if there were different syringes available, these are 100% better.

    Great service

By Carson on May 23, 2021

I recently started using Chewy for my cat's insulin and syringes. Add cat food, litter, etc. Excellent service. Very timely arrival of the order, only 2-3 days even for medication after vet approval.

    Really Good !

By Sportyboy on May 2, 2021

These syringes are really GOOD as the marks on the side are in 1/2 cc. The others I have used, to give Sportyboy his insulin each morning and night are only marked 1cc, so you get to guess about the amount to give.

    U-40 Needles

By Tasha on Apr 26, 2021

Spoke with pharmacist before purchase to confirm correct Rx. Needles are just what we use and were expecting. Keep finding more & more things for our Tasha that we can get through Chewy, always with prompt delivery.

    Easy to use

By Samantha on Mar 30, 2021

As others state, the cap is a bit tight, but that seems better than the alternative of the cap coming loose and leaving a needle out in the wild. They pull insulin out of the vial smoothly, and our chihuahua doesn't seem to notice them going in (though he is plied with pumpkin during every injection).
