Insulin Syringes/Needles U-40 29 Gauge x 0.5-in are used for the injection of U-40 (40 units per ml) insulin in pets with diabetes. However, it’s important to note that more than one concentration of insulin exists, so be sure that the syringe used matches the type of insulin prescribed for your pet.
UsesSyringes are primarily used to administer insulin to dogs and cats.
Precautions
Used sharps should be immediately placed in a sharps disposal container. FDA-cleared sharps containers are generally available through pharmacies, medical supply companies, health care providers and online. These containers are made of puncture-resistant plastic with leak-resistant sides and bottom. They also have a tight fitting, puncture-resistant lid. If an FDA-cleared container is not available a heavy-duty plastic household container, such as a laundry detergent container can be used as an alternative.

What are U-40 syringes?
These syringes are prescribed by your veterinarian in order to deliver insulin to your pet. Insulin syringes list volume as units. U-40 syringes are used to administer ProZinc insulin for cats. Make sure you are using the correct syringe for the insulin your pet needs. Incorrect syringe sizes will result in incorrect insulin dosing. Only your veterinarian can write a prescription for U-40 syringes.

Excellent for frequent use

We have a diabetic cat and must give him a subcutaneous insulin shot twice a day. These syringes have long, thin, very sharp needles, perfect for the type of injection we must give. Our cat, Sparky, became used to the shots very quickly, and the needles do not seem to cause any pain.

These insulin needles are a great price. Only problem is a few were bent but for the price I will definitely reorder. When you have a sick baby every penny saved helps.

No 1/2-unit markings as pictured

The close-up photo of the syringe for this packaging depicts a barrel with 1/2-unit markings, which is the ONLY reason I ordered this "no frills" package rather than the pkg with the built-in disposal container. I assumed this would be helpful for more precise dosing (if needed) for my newly-diagnosed diabetic cat. VERY disappointed to see there were NO 1/2-unit markings on these after all! They do the job......happy with the product. Needle is long but once you get used to that, it is routine.

These syringes are easy to handle and clearly marked. They are consistently good quality. My cat does not seem to be aware when he receives his Insulin with these needles. Chewy always so efficient with their delivery.
