Description

Insulin Syringes/Needles U-100 29 Gauge x 0.5-in are prescribed by your vet for the injection of U-100 (100 units per ml) insulin to treat your pet's diabetes. However, it’s important to note that more than one concentration of insulin exists, so be sure that the syringe used matches the type of insulin prescribed for your pet. These insulin syringes also come with a sharps container for proper disposal of syringes.

Uses

Syringes are primarily used to administer insulin to dogs and cats.

Precautions

Used sharps should be immediately placed in a sharps disposal container. FDA-cleared sharps containers are generally available through pharmacies, medical supply companies, health care providers and online. These containers are made of puncture-resistant plastic with leak-resistant sides and bottom. They also have a tight fitting, puncture-resistant lid. If an FDA-cleared container is not available a heavy-duty plastic household container, such as a laundry detergent container can be used as an alternative.

FAQ

What are U-100 syringes?

These syringes are prescribed by your veterinarian in order to deliver insulin to your pet. Insulin syringes list volume as units. U-100 syringes are used to administer Humulin N insulin. Verify that you are ordering the correct syringe to suit the insulin that your pet is being given. Using an incorrect syringe size will result in incorrect insulin dosing. U-100 syringes are only available with a prescription from your veterinarian.

What are the benefits of U-100 syringes?

  • Easy to read.
  • Latex-free.
  • Non-toxic.
  • Can use to give insulin injections at home once your veterinarian teaches proper technique.

How does this product work?

U-100 syringes are used to administer insulin to diabetic dogs and cats. This syringe size is compatible with Humulin N insulin. You should not administer insulin injections until you have been trained by a veterinary professional to give them correctly. It is important that you are using the correct insulin syringe for the specific type of insulin your pet requires. An incorrect syringe size can result in incorrect dosing. U-100 syringes require a veterinary prescription. All insulin syringes should be properly discarded in a sharps container and should not be thrown away in the trash.

great package— not so great needle

    By on

I love this package! So convenient with the build in sharps container, however I was less than impressed with the needles. I’m used the kind from the pharmacy and these seemed lower quality and liked they “stuck” when injecting, like I had to push down harder on the top. If for some reason I couldn’t get to the pharmacy I would order these, chewy is great but I like the ones I have now better for my cat.

    High quality

    By on

We have tried multiple containers for disposing our cat's syringes. This one is the best one! It stores the unused syringes as well as the used ones. The quality is also very sturdy and very safe to use.

    Diabetes syringe

    By on

These syringes work smoothly than some others I’ve tried. Also nice to have smaller dosing sizes marked on syringe

    Great Value

    By on

My dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I was having a hard time finding these particular size syringes. Thank you Chewy for calling my vet for the prescription and getting them to me so quick before I ran out.

Needle too long for feline use

    By on

These must be for dogs, they were out of stock on the one I normally buy so bought these thinking they'd work the same. They do not, needle much too long (it does say on package I just didn't understand it was referring to needle size) also the needle tip is not slanted like I'm used to so they don't penetrate skin as easy. Will not purchase again.

    Meets our needs

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I've had to use these insulin syringes a couple years ago for my cat but purchased from the vet's office at a much higher price. This was before Chewy acquired a pharmacy. Now, I am having to give insulin shots to my dog. I am glad to purchase these from Chewy. You can buy similar syringes at the mart slightly cheaper but to me, those are a bit lighter and the needle is much shorter/thinner. I can control these better.
