Description

The Ultra Paws Wound Dog Boot is a breathable boot with elastic sides to cover a bandage or cast if needed. It protects the wound area while healing and restricts licking or chewing at wounds. Price is for a single boot packaged individually. Please note the boot is designed to be breathable, not waterproof. If the dog goes outdoors in wet conditions, consider taping a plastic bag over the boot to prevent moisture from penetrating the boot.

Key Benefits
  • Wound boot is breathable to allow air to freely flow in and around the wound area
  • Improves healing and helps prevent infection by reducing moisture and keeping the wound area dryer
  • The sole is made from a non-skid PVC material that provides traction indoors
  • Spandex sides allow for a range of healing stages by expanding to cover a bandage or cast when needed
  • Two fuzzy fastener straps fasten boot in place.

Add an extra layer of warmth and protection with Ultra Paws’ Leg Wraps!

Constructed well, but didn't work for us

    By on

The goal for us was to cover a wound on one of his toes while it healed. We've been using a sock (with a little tape on the sock above the joint to keep it from slipping off) and I thought something like this would be easier. We tried it for one day. It didn't really stay on well and it was rubbing him awkwardly on a spot on the side of his paw. I could see that spot getting raw when I did the daily wound cleaning. So that's when we went back to the sock. At this stage of his recovery, there is no wrapping or anything around the paw like there was early on. We just need the wound to be covered so he doesn't see it and try to lick it. I imagine it would work better if the paw was wrapped like it was in the beginning (less chance of this boot rubbing on the skin). Only other thing was the velcro strips were supposed to be held in place with some included plastic clips. Those clips were useless and just came right off the moment he moved or laid down or if they rubbed against anything (like the carpet). After the clips came off, I had to use some wrap to keep the velcro from coming undone. Thus defeating my goal of this boot being easier than the sock option. Overall construction was good. No complaints there, however, I thought it would come up the leg a little higher than it did. … more

    Dont stay on

Had hopes that these booties would stay on my Cairn terriers foot. He had to have a toe amputated and he needed to have protection on the foot while recuperating. The problem was the boot didn't go far enough up the leg to stay on. Also, while trying to velcro the straps on it, one strap was almost directly on the wound and was hurting his foot, so couldn't even use it. Found the best solution to keep the foot protected was to use a very large gauze pad inside the water cover bootie that comes with the boot, then just loosely tie that up and then take some stretch tape and go around the top of the bootie cover to secure it in place.

Does the job but could be stronger

Our dog - big golden doodle app 80 lbs keeps on chewing at a hot spot. We didn't want to do the E-collar thing so tried this boot. She got used to it quickly and it does its job. BUT it really doesn't hold up to much walking and squirrel chasing and other 80 lb dog things. She has been wearing it app. 2 weeks now and it is falling apart. We will have to get another one.

Not as good as I had hoped!

My 8 year old 75 pound male rough collie recently had surgery on his right front limb to remove a mass. The vet had him in a splint and cast for about 10 days. During that time I had to walk him but keep the cast clean and dry. After trying a number of "home made" covers I decided to order this boot. Not only was it not waterproof or even water resistant it started to tear at the seam along his the line of his toes. I had to walk him to go to bathroom so he did walk on asphalt somewhat but not too much. I also ended up buying a package of the plastic covers made to keep the boot dry when it rained and they ripped off within a few feet of walking. It fit perfectly!

My dog Sara cut her paw and had to get staples. The vet gave me a used IV bag to put over her bandage when she went out to do her business. This was quite cumbersome, and I found this boot on your website. I just put a plastic sandwich bag over her paw underneath the boot to keep in dry, and we both liked it much better! And it was so easy to put on and stayed on!

    Good but needs design adjustments

    By on

My American Bulldog broke a toe and I was in need of a bootie or some sort of coverage that could be stretched out to fit over the cast in order for my dog to go do his business outside without causing any damage to his cast. The bootie works and fits wonderfully; however, the rubber padding is not long enough to prevent the bootie from ripping at the seam. After one wear I already see that it will not last long.

    Good but...

I bought this for my Shih Tzu who had a toe amputated and needed to keep the bandage dry. This would not fit over the bandage but I was able to put it on once the bandage was removed. The problem then was that it was difficult to adjust so that it would stay on his foot. He now has a small bandage on his foot and this works well.

Comfortable and easy to put on

    By on

Awesome product! We were using dog socks to protect my dog's feet because she has cutaneous lymphoma and has sores on the pads of her feet. The socks would always twist around and fall off, but this boot stays on well. She got used to it in about 5 minutes, and she's a picky dog. Thank you for making our dog more comfortable.

    The vet was impressed!

My 95 pound Lab was scheduled to have a tumor removed from the bottom of back foot. Having other dogs that were challenging when it came to protecting foot problems I was looking for something better and wouldn’t require me to 24/7 watch. This boot is perfect! The vet thought so because of expandable sides and it’s length. The Velcro straps are super long and can be cut to measure. Bottom is tough but best is that it doesn’t twist on foot. Worth price.

    Didn’t work

    By on

My dog is recovering from a broken bone in her paw, along with an infection that developed under the splint. The Medipaw cover I used worked perfectly to cover the splint, but now slips off her leg. I needed something to protect her paw when outdoors. This is a poor design for a few reasons - first of all, I think you need to size up, second the mesh design could get stuck on her nails, possibly injuring the still recovering bone, and third, there is a rubber foam pad inside on the back that although soft, would not allow the wound to breathe possibly rubbing it further. It may work if you are putting over a small already bandaged area.
