    They’re Alive!!!!!

By Jess on Jan 26, 2021

This bag arrived with small holes evenly placed along each side. I’ve never seen this done with any other brand. I placed the bag in a semi-airtight container to keep the crunchy little critters just a little bit more fresh. All my airtight bins were full. Here’s where the horror begins. Yes, getting beetles and other interesting insects in wild birdseed sometimes happens. I always check each bag. Usually the foreign invaders are dead and I only fret it they have spoiled the seed. When I finally opened the bag to fill up the jar I keep in the house I noticed movement. I thought surely it was a trick of the eye. They may be dried out but they sometimes look alive due to static in the bag. No This bag arrived with small holes evenly placed along each side. I’ve never seen this done with any other brand. They may be dried out but they sometimes look alive due to static in the bag. No biggie. I proceeded to jiggle the mealworms around just to ease my paranoia. That’s when I noticed a smaller, more fresh larvae... and it waaaas moving. Then a beetle crawled out from the pile of crispy bird snacks and it was good bye creepy crawlers and $17 bucks. Regardless of my horror story, I was not satisfied with the packaging of this product. I prefer everything in airtight bags. The mealworms seemed inferior to my regular brand as they were thinner and in smaller pieces. I would never buy this brand again based on packaging alone. … more

    All The Birds Come Here

By Jacki on May 11, 2020

The dried mealworms make an excellent addition to the bird seed/nut/fruit blend served to just about every type of bird that lives near woods, meadows and a neighborhood. On the upside, many birds come to the feeder & the bird houses are full. On the downside, the feeder is empty at the end of the day.
