I have two small dogs - under 9 lbs - who are both prone to Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (evidenced by bloody diarrhea and/or vomit). I've had them to the vet for this umpteen times, with varying results. One visit at our vet clinic was with a doctor we don't usually see. She recommended Diagel. Everything was fine again after one dose. (Since then we've pursued allergy testing and have had near complete abatement of repeated bouts of HGE with allergy treatment.) I have learned to give Diagel at the first sign of trouble and have been able to stop the progression of HGE in its tracks, often not needing to see the vet. One caveat: The stuff tastes absolutely horrid. My littlest girl will cough and gag and drool (not in a good way!) after tasting the stuff. I hate having to force it down her, but a minute of bad taste in her mouth is far better than the alternative. When I give Diagel, I place the syringe as far back in the dog's mouth as I can get it, squirt it in quick, hold her mouth shut, and blow in her face to get her to swallow. Then I let the poor thing do her gagging and sputtering, while knowing she won't have any further trouble.
I have used this product for digestive upset from stress or food related -- and it works every time with only 1 or maybe 2 doses! And great ingredients. Recommended by my DVM (and the first time we used it, she administered in the office). Easy under the tongue with syringe.
My boxer has been having on and off spouts of the runs. His BM’s though began like he had worms so I treated him for worms. After the treatment ran its course most of his BM’s were about 25% solid. Yesterday morning, the first BM for my boy of the day was pure projectile yellow water. He’s been on a ground Turkey (chicken allergy) and rice bland diet. I messaged my vet and she recommended this and I stopped by to grab it from her later in the evening. Gave my 65 lb boxer the 5ml syringe about 7pm and he just went out and had his first BM since and his stool was now about 65% solid in just that short amount of time. Whether it was a coincidence or not that he had a fairly formed BM and a tad bit of mush, I’ll take it over the pure water. I’ve ordered more to keep on hand since he has an extremely sensitive stomach to begin with and give the product 2 thumbs up and 5 stars. I feel like if the product doesn’t work for your pup, there must be a more serious underlying issue with your pup… bc this worked pretty awesome for just a general upset GI system.
i have found it works best at first sign of diarrhea. when i give it right away, it's gone.
Originally given by our vet & generally works quickly. Dogs don't like the taste.
My vet prescribed this for dog diarrhea. It resets the digestive system and helps end the runny diarrhea in less than a day. When my new poodle puppy got into cat food, Diagel really helped her.
This was given to me by an ER vet when one of our cats was severely ill with coccidia. This does not treat coccidia and this is not the version for cats. BUT I bought the dog version one time when my dog had GI upset and this stuff is amazing. I always keep some in stock at my house.
The dog I adopted has a compromised immune system and IB S. When anything upsets her she gets diarrhea. If I give her half a syringe it does the trick. It was first used by my veterinarian, I followed up at home by ordering more to have on hand.
I have a dog that has IBD. He gets diarrhea from stress or if he eats something that he doesn't tolerate, which is a lot of normal dog foods. This helps him right away! His stomach calms right down, his cramps go away and the urgent need to go poop stops all within 10 minutes. I will always keep these on hand.
I have two dogs with IBD, and have found this product to help with reocurring diarrhea. Be careful though to use wisely. Any product can be overused.
