I hesitate to give less than 4 stars, because I think the litter pan (I got the large) seems well constructed, and it is tall--a good feature when you have large cats. I do, however, have a couple of issues--which other buyers might keep in mind 1) the rear of the bottom pan has much less height than I need for male cats who like to aim "high" against the rear wall; it's about 1.5 inches more shallow than a different brand pan. This makes it more likely that a male cat will pee right at the connection point of the top/bottom pans, causing some seepage. 2)Because I have 4 litter pans lined up next to each other, I found it inconvenient to have to slide the pan out, in order to unlock it and removeI hesitate to give less than 4 stars, because I think the litter pan (I got the large) seems well constructed, and it is tall--a good feature when you have large cats. So this design does not work for me.
FYI, I do not consider this a bad purchase--just not the right litter pan for my situation, having 3 large male cats who are "high shooters."(These Van Ness pans will be passed on to a friend with a female cat, where they will work perfectly.)… more
good large size litter box
on Feb 11, 2019
I personally like this brand and their extra large size litter box as it helps contain loose litter when cats love to dig and cover up their "stuff". All my cats have used this brand over the years and I have had no problems of any kind with it. I put the litter box on a small rug to catch litter. Also, I immediately toss out the flap door as no cat wants to get their butt hit with this door and they just jump in and out through the opening. Also, the handle is used ONLY to lift the top of the litter box off and not to lift the entire box. My cats recommend this litter box >^..^<
Cats prefer this

I had to buy a second litter box because my cats decided to start peeing on the carpet. I chose this because it was enclosed (didn't want litter all over the carpet) and not too expensive. My cats really like it and there is less mess compared to my other box. Its a good size and it has a handle, filters, and snaps to make this easy to move and clean. The only issue I have with it is the door flap. When the flap is in place, it goes too far down into the entrance and prevents the door from being opened both ways. I had to take the door off so my cats could get in and out. Good box otherwise.
Great litter box for the price.

I was skeptical before I purchased this pan because it was to replace one I had for 20 years. I really appreciated the fact that the box is very deep and for anyone who has kitties that stand rather than squat this is the perfect solution. No more urine leaking out between the top and bottom of the box. Each side has 2 clips that keep the top in place. I scoop many times a day and just use 1 clip to hold the lid secure. The only negative is that it is not made out of rigid plastic. Also has filters to keep odors in check and a removable door.
Van Ness enclosed cat litter box

My cats switched over to the new boxes without hesitation, and I love them because the type of material they're made from makes scooping a breeze--everything comes out in a single clump, unlike many others I've had. Also, the high front threshold is great because when the cat kicks and digs in the litter, the front is high enough to contain most of it.
Will definitely be replacing more litter boxes with this Van Ness model.
X-Large Blue Litter Box
on Feb 7, 2019
I went with the X-Lg bc the pictures on the website seemed like the Large would be too small, but seeing how big this one is I think the Large would have been fine. I can’t believe I only paid $16 for this, everything is priced very well on here. Thanks Chewy!!
Large cat liter box

This is a large cat liter box. Nice size for the price , however the only issues I have is the front clear swinging door. The first time my cat used this the door came off into the liter(I have a 4 month old cat) so I was surprised. I did take the liter box apart and the door back on . It seemed to fit correctly but shorty afterwards the door fell off again. It seems when she pushed the door in to go potty it pops off. Other than that I love the clips that hold it together(they are well made)

I wanted the transparent hooded box but they were out of them so I got this one and it’s great. I like the size and the litter doesn’t fly all over. I will be getting another for our RV but hope they get the transparent ones back-same litter box, just my personal preference.
Enclosed litter box is the way to go!

For my cat that liked to sit on the edge of his old open litter box (and sometimes was directionally challenged), this type of box is working much better! The door doesn't swing freely, especially with the liner bag in place, so I just removed it. That's the only thing keeping it from being 5 stars.
Great Large Basic Litter Box

Bought a 2nd litter box when I brought another cat into my home. The previous litter box I had was no longer the favorite. The Van Ness Enclosed Cat Litter Pan has a tall bottom tray so litter doesn't get kicked out easily and it's fairly large. It's the new favorite potty at the apartment now. The privacy flap does get knocked off sometimes but very easy to put back.
