  • Works, but use it differently than reccomended

    By on

ok, so this works GREAT, the problem is, the manufacturer has no idea how it works, haha! so what you do, is put the litter in a solid tray, then put the sifting tray under that tray, then put the second solid tray under that, and clip on the top. then let it sit for a day and your cat does it's business. then unclip it, take your full, dirty, litter tray, and lift it and pour that into the sifter tray (with the clean pan underneath it). so now you have not-clumped-to-the-sifter litter ready to be sifted. now sift (gently shake the litter through), and the clean litter is now in the bottom tray, the clumps are in the sifter to be disposed of, and the tray you poured out can go on the bottom ok, so this works GREAT, the problem is, the manufacturer has no idea how it works, haha! so what you do, is put the litter in a solid tray, then put the sifting tray under that tray, then put the second solid tray under that, and clip on the top. then let it sit for a day and your cat does it's business. then unclip it, take your full, dirty, litter tray, and lift it and pour that into the sifter tray (with the clean pan underneath it). so now you have not-clumped-to-the-sifter litter ready to be sifted. now sift (gently shake the litter through), and the clean litter is now in the bottom tray, the clumps are in the sifter to be disposed of, and the tray you poured out can go on the bottom to become the clean tray. and re-assemble in the same way. so it's solid tray, sifter, solid tray. NOT sifter, solid tray, solid tray. I have no idea why the manufacturer thinks it will work the other way, it obviously will not, because litter clumps, that's the whole idea. … more

  • Messy. sides too low

    By on

Almost works as promised- but make sure you don't use clumping litter as it sticks to the screen. Also my cats are used to high sides and there is a lot MORE sand getting out of the sides as these are not very high. Idea good- would like pans with higher sides to save on cleaning. And it should be labeled to use non-clumping sand , otherwise you will be scraping it off the bottom,

  • Great litter pan, just not for my cats

    By on

My cats are “diggers.” They dig and throw litter every time they use the box. While the sides keep the litter fairly well contained, they are able to kick a lot of litter out of the front of the box. If your cat doesn’t dig or throw/kick litter, then this is a great litter box.

  • Great product

    By on

I have three cats and this works much better than a regular litter box. Only con is there is a small gap between the the litter box and the sifter and pee slumps on both sides of sifter.

  • High expectations, low satisfaction

    By on

I thought this was a dream come true for my 3 felines.. The theory was great. The practicality of it was useless. I have this in my new laundry room. Not a lot of extra space for cleanup. I tried to put enough litter in it that the urine would clump before it hit the sifter. I am 70 and it was so heavy, I had trouble getting the pans separated. Then found all the holes plugged with cement like urine. By the time I emptied it in to the plastic bag, I had litter everywhere. Will go back to my original pan and scoop. So much for perfecting the mousetrap!!

  • I don’t know about this

    By on

Interesting concept. It would be great if the clean litter didn’t sift through the holes. I took the sifter out and I’m just using the pan. I would not buy again

  • Not tall enough

    By on

I have 1 cat & he was still able to kick litter out of the box, the top cover is not tall to keep litter inside the box. I had to go back to my old box, But I'm keeping the box because someone is gifting me a sifter which I will need the pans for to dump the litter into while I put the sifter back in the taller sided litter box that I already have. Also the sifter of this pan doesn't clean out very well if your litter level is low.

  • disappointed

    By on

I have been looking for ways to make things easier with the litter box management for two indoor cats. This did not help. In fact I end up with more of a mess when trying to use it as reccomended. If you want to new simple litter boxes for this price - then go for it. But the sifting does not work well. All the wet clumping litter gets trapped in the holes which are perhaps a little too big.

  • It's got room for improvement

    By on

It's okay so long as your cat doesn't kick their litter into the next county like mine does. I swear she's trying out for the soccer team. The typical issues remain- if you don't have enough litter, the urine soaks through and dries in the bottom of the sifter, so you have to deal with that. No matter what you do, you'll be up vacuuming up litter. Wife says: "It sucks"

  • Van Ness Sifting Pan

    By on

I like the pans. I first purchased one at my local pet store. They make removing feces and urine clumps a breeze. I would recommend these pans> Most people are ignorant on how to use them. U only use the strainer when U poor the litter into it. U do not poor the litter into the strainer and let it sit in there. That is the dumb way. Urine clumps and clogs strainer holes, if U use it that way. Put the litter in the plain pan. Pour the soiled litter through the strainer. I also use litter bags, because the urine tends to stick to the pan. It is like concrete on the pan without the bags. Hard to remove.
