  • Definitely saves time and energy

My kitty has been using this box for about a month. He had no problem switching to it which was great. The walls are high enough to prevent him from scattering litter. As others have mentioned, your success in using this product heavily depends on the clumping factor of your litter. If you have issues with urine forming sticky clumps on the bottom of the box, they will translate to this one and become more frustrating. I use the frisco litter sold on chewy and have minor issue with this situation, but its not a deal breaker. My work around for messes is to use the new tray as a liner for the sifting screen, and then remove the garbage bag so I can get a good angle on dumping. My work around for messes is to use the new tray as a liner for the sifting screen, and then remove the garbage bag so I can get a good angle on dumping. Saves the mess of litter everywhere, and my kitty usually cooperates with me by not burying his waste very deep (which will cause issues with the sticking to screen or bottom). I am glad I can take every time I clean this box as an opportunity to wipe down and disinfect his box, and he seems to appreciate me cleaning his box more often and thoroughly because of the box's design! … more

  • Faye is a GENIUS!

Yes, this is a TERRIFIC litter box, but it's THAT good if you use it as the reviewer Faye recommended on Jan. 31, 2018. She is a TOTAL GENIUS, and clearly she knows more about how to use this litter box than the manufacturers. He's her recommendation: With 5 Stars Works, but use it differently than reccomended By Faye on Jan 31, 2018 ok, so this works GREAT, the problem is, the manufacturer has no idea how it works, haha! so what you do, is put the litter in a solid tray, then put the sifting tray under that tray, then put the second solid tray under that, and clip on the top. then let it sit for a day and your cat does it's business. then unclip it, take your full, dirty, litter tray, Yes, this is a TERRIFIC litter box, but it's THAT good if you use it as the reviewer Faye recommended on Jan. 31, 2018. NOT sifter, solid tray, solid tray. I have no idea why the manufacturer thinks it will work the other way, it obviously will not, because litter clumps, that's the whole idea. … more

  • Messy litter box.

    By on

Makes cleaning a litter box even more challenging. Urine soaked litter sticks to the mesh, so out comes the kitty scooper and there I am scrapping the mesh, which leads to making more of a mess than if I used the old litter box and scooped. Dirty litter is going everywhere. Throwing this in garbage and going back to old litter box. What a waste

  • Van Ness Sifting Cat litter pan with frame blue base white frame

    By on

Horrible, even nonstick litter sticks to the base of this pan. The sifting squares are too big for any of the market brands of sifting litter. The squares do NOT sift clean enough, leaving mini clump crumbs that most other sifters won't allow to get through but this sifter allows all those clumps of crumbs to get through, leaving a half cleaned box of sifted litter. Wont buy again and wish I could return.

  • Too small for full size cat

    By on

Way too small. Nice idea but will not work fir 12 or more lb cats plus the removable top edge does not fasten tightly. Hence... poop over the edge and rambunctious cats that bury their poop knock the top edge completely off. Oh well to the recycling bin it goes.

  • Messy. sides too low

    By on

Almost works as promised- but make sure you don't use clumping litter as it sticks to the screen. Also my cats are used to high sides and there is a lot MORE sand getting out of the sides as these are not very high. Idea good- would like pans with higher sides to save on cleaning. And it should be labeled to use non-clumping sand , otherwise you will be scraping it off the bottom,

  • It's got room for improvement

    By on

It's okay so long as your cat doesn't kick their litter into the next county like mine does. I swear she's trying out for the soccer team. The typical issues remain- if you don't have enough litter, the urine soaks through and dries in the bottom of the sifter, so you have to deal with that. No matter what you do, you'll be up vacuuming up litter. Wife says: "It sucks"

  • it's a okay product

    By on

Van Ness sifting litter box is a good product, it was a little small if it was a couple inches longer and made with stronger material I would have gave it a five-star, and the materials that it's made from is very flimsy when you pick it up to empty feels like it might crack, for the money it should have been made a little stronger but it saves me a lot of time I'm still happy with it even though there are some issues. thank you.

  • Good litter box

    By on

I really like this litter box, it makes scooping/cleaning SO much easier. I don't find it hard to use at all. My only complaints are that if you don't have enough litter in it, sometimes it will clump to the sifter, and when that happens I usually just grab something out of the trash and clean it off with it. And second, my cat kicks litter out like crazy, the back is just a little too low to prevent her from displacing everything.
