  • Stainless Steel is the only way to go!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

My Maltese will tell you in a heart beat if there are chemicals in a bowl. Their noses will turn pink/black when they should be all black. I bought this little bowl so it would be a different size than my cat's bowl. So it's been perfect! My cat eats more, so he gets the bigger bowl and I have a large water bowl (why they prefer big I have no idea) but since I went full time RVing I keep their bowls on each side of the water bowl and they each know which bowl of food is theirs. I just love it

  • Great feeding bowl -- for a "small" dog!

    By on

This is exactly what I wanted, except it is about 3-4 times too small. It is what I ordered, but I was thinking 32 oz. capacity would easily hold two cups of dry dog food - WRONG. I have a Golden Retriever and a Black Lab. If they could get their nose into the bowl, they couldn't open their mouths! :-) So . . . it's back to the catalog for me!

  • Great little bowl

My cats get wet food in this bowl. Wide and low sides for easy eating. Does slide a little but not bad.

  • The adhesive on the inside stickers is RIDICULOUS

    By on

I bought two of these Van Ness stainless steel bowls largely because they were less expensive than others I looked at, but the marginally lower price was in no way worth the hassle I had trying to remove the stickers from the inside of the bowls. First I doused them with boiling water and dish detergent and let them stand. No luck. Next--vegetable oil, no. Peanut butter, no. Lots of scrubbing with a non-scratch choreboy each time. Still left adhesive residue. I finally used lighter fluid, but I shouldn't' have had to. To the vendor, you need to pay attention to your customers' reviews! I should have paid attention myself!

  • Narrower than expected.

    By on

We got the 16 oz and 32oz bowls. I am used to stainless bowls being a little shallower and wider. My pup isn't 100% sure about his whiskers brushing the side. The big ones make amazing water bowls like we wanted, but I think I would have gotten them all in that size if I'd realized the dimensions of the small ones. The metal is great. Heavy enough that my pups and dishwasher haven't dented them.

  • It's a Bowl

    By on

Prior to purchasing this bowl, I read all the reviews, but this seemed a good value against the other bowls on the site. If you're really picky, I suggest finding a bowl in person, but other reviewers were accurate. Actual inside dimensions are 7.5" across 2.75" deep for the 64 oz bowl. Currently, this bowl is the same price on Amazon; Petsmart and Petco do not carry this brand online, so it's tough to compare value. I agree with other reviewers, it is a VERY thin Stainless Steel, and yes, you can push the bottom, it gives and pops back. The finish under the rim is not as high quality as other dog bowls we currently have. It's very shiny, lightweight and the 64 oz is not a giant bowl Prior to purchasing this bowl, I read all the reviews, but this seemed a good value against the other bowls on the site. I think it works better as a feeding dish than a water dish. Some reviewers commented about the glue from the label on the inside of the bowl. An old-fashioned trick, and what I did to remove the sticker, is to heat it up with a hair dryer so the glue warms up and you can peel it off without leaving any glue residue. A little dish soap and warm water ensures every last trace is gone and any manufacturing chemicals too. Mind you, the stainless steel will also get HOT, so don't burn yourself. I am not responsible for your burns if you do. :) … more

  • Perfect bowl

    By on

Construction, material, weight, size, rubber feet... everything just perfect for the purpose of this generic bowl. Nothing fancy about it. It's a good, solid, general all purpose bowl. I think it's better for water than for food. It seemed a little deep and 'straight' for food. For water, on the other hand, just 100% perfect. Oh, I change water every day. You should too. You should get at least 3 so there are 3 locations in the house with fresh water. I have mine in the kitchen, bathroom, and my bedroom. Each time I use the kitche, bath, or bed, I give my Bubba a bowl of fresh water. You need to keep enticing cats to drink more water for cat's health. Good stuff!
