Using the applicator tip, part the hair at the base of the tail and begin applying the product onto the skin in a continuous line from the base of the tail along the center of the back all the way up to the shoulder blades. Avoid superficial application to the dog's hair. Do not get the product in the dog's eyes or mouth.

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

I hate putting chemicals on my dogs, but just pulled a tick out of one and vets insist on a preventative. So I bought this for both my pups, because I could use the same amount for both and buy just one box (30lbs and 52lbs). The larger dog is fine, no adverse reaction. The smaller dog has been curling his back, holding tail to the side, and frequently shaking off his fur. I think this is burning his skin. From what I've read there are worse reactions, so I guess I'm lucky. My dog is also on Prednisone though for another condition, so that might be calming his skin reaction. I bathed my dog after 3 days on Vectra, and it made no difference, but in researching more I guess I should have used dish soap. So this will be washed off, hopefully, but a waste of money and hopefully no harm to the dog. Back to natural tick repellent products and treating my lawn instead of my dogs - although I believe my dog picked this tick up at a local park, not my yard. I inspected him daily, but missed this tick entirely.
The young pup i rescued needed flea treatment. He is now in another home. Mr Bill was Charms favorite toy, I got it to remember her by. I am too ill to train another service dog. You’ve been great to buy from for many years and I’ll always recommend you.
Just want to shout out that this is an excellent product. I walk in a forested area daily that is loaded with ticks. My dog never seems to pick up any where other dogs in the pack we walk with have them often.
My 2 year old is scratching her belly area and snout like crazy. Vet recommended Benadryl. We have not changed anything except for this item. Will be trying something else, probably Simparica, next month.
Tubes leak everywhere, makes a mess and wastes the product. Chewy was great and sent me a replacement pack, thinking it was just a faulty batch, but the new ones leaked too.
Tried and gave this brand a chance but it does nothing to work to solve the fleas on my dog. This is the first year battling fleas ever and I have also treated yard and home along with this product. Don’t waste you’re money.
This product works great! First year that I have no ticks. I have always gave my dogs the digestive tick medicine to find out that it doesn't provide effective Lyme disease for the full three months and now my dog has Lyme disease, plus the ticks always came in the house and I got tick bites. This product repels ticks or kills ticks and none of us have ticks!
Kind of a pain to apply, because you have to get it directly on the skin all the way from the neck to base of tail. Then when you're done it does leave some wet residue in your dog's hair, which you're not supposed to touch until it's dry. My dog was told to use this by his vet, and we have been and it seems to work just fine, but it does make his back itchy. I just wait until its fully dry and brush/scratch his back. But we havent had any issues with flea or ticks, etc.
We first used Vectra 3D about 13 years ago when we lived in Maryland. Fleas got out of hand, they were everywhere and our regular flea/tick product did nothing. I researched flea/tick topical products for a long time and found Vectra to be one of the least toxic to dogs and still do the job. We've stuck with Vectra ever since and no fleas or ticks. We now live in the middle of the woods on a mountain, so a good test area.
Ordering was easy, shipping and tracking was easy, communication good. I like Chewy!
