Dry mouth and trouble urinating (eg, straining) are possible but not common. Infrequently, diphenhydramine may cause gastrointestinal distress such as vomiting, decreased appetite, or diarrhea. You don’t have to be overly concerned if you see any of these signs unless they are severe, worsen, or continue to be a problem. Contact your veterinarian if this happens.

Not a good choice for cats
By Bojangles on Nov 9, 2020
Mr. Bojangles has allergies and we wanted to try something new. The store bought version had to be cut and thus he got the taste in his mouth which led to severe mouth foaming and drooling. These are supposed to be chew-able. They aren't. Once again the taste of the medicine far out weighs the "chicken" flavor. Unless you are an expert at getting pills in your cat without getting them anywhere near his tongue or cheeks, you will have to deal with a foaming and drooling miserable cat for 5-10 minutes. The 3 stars are because they actually worked once all of the drama was over. We are definitely looking for something a lot more user friendly! Chewy, as always, is the best!

Not what I thought I was buying
By Candles on Jun 11, 2020
I bought Vetadryl because my dog has to take diphenhydramine every day (75 mg twice a day). That's a lot of Pill Pockets, or hot dogs, or whatever medium you use to get the pills down (tossing them in meals is not ideal -- he can pick them out). So, I thought a chewable would be the answer. These things are no more chewable than the diphenhydramine (Benedryl) that you can buy in any grocery store, and they are much more expensive.

I use it for grass allergy
By f150 on Oct 23, 2019
This is very affordable & much easier to give to my dog than the bitter Benadryl. Grass allergy: I start dosing in late Feb to get it into her system, with fish oil & vit E. If a little irritation develops, (inside ears) I wipe with Neem oil. I’ve used this for many years & this is the first time a prescription was required. Chewy made it very easy to order. I received it quickly.

Tasty medicine
By Cardul on Aug 14, 2019
Finally a medication that my dog will take! My dog with pancreatitis will pick through her food and treats to find the pills and spit them out. These supposedly taste like meat. She won’t take them as a treat but will eat them along with her food no problem. No unusual drowsiness either. Wish every dog pill could be made this way.

Not what you think as a chewable
By Scott on Nov 9, 2018
I bought these because my AmStaff is constantly getting mast cell tumors. As they're histamine related my vet thought a regimen of Benadryl might reduce the frequency of occurrence. Technically these are probably chewable tablets I suppose. But they're small and hard, like a typical small aspirin tablet and my dog just spits them out because they're too small to chew. Something larger like a training treat that's a bit soft would be perfect.
