Side effects that usually are not serious include: The most common side effect, which is often desirable, is sleepiness. Most animals will become tolerant to this effect with time and will not get as sleepy when given the medication. Cats, in particular, may become unusually excited while taking this drug. Dry mouth and trouble urinating (eg, straining) are possible but not common. Infrequently, diphenhydramine may cause gastrointestinal distress such as vomiting, decreased appetite, or diarrhea. You don’t have to be overly concerned if you see any of these signs unless they are severe, worsen, or continue to be a problem. Contact your veterinarian if this happens.
No serious Food and Drug Interactions have been reported.

Common side effects may include sedation, ataxia, reduced coordination, gastric upset, thickening of bronchial secretions, and increased urine output. I have used a finger cot to get the pill far back in poor Theo's mouth. I've used the pill dispenser. I've coated it in treat-food. I've tried everything: he vomits it up with cups and cups of thick foam. It isn't tolerated AT ALL.
Excellent - small tablets that are scored to do a smaller does for small dogs (mine is a 6 pound Hav
I ordered these off the recommendation of the 3rd vet I took Mojo to for the head wagging, sneezing, neck scratching that tortured him for many months. Nothing was helping these issues. The 4th vet, last week, discovered that Mojo had some kind of bug debris next to his right eardrum!! Vetadryl would not have helped that.
My pup won't take this on it's own but if we ball it up in a small amount of cheese, he will take it. It must not taste very good because he will sometimes manage to eat just the cheese and spit out the pill ( which I find later on the carpet.) I am still using these because they do work and have stopped him from chewing/licking his feet.
My dog takes beef flavored medicine “treats” so I bought her these and she WILL NOT eat them. Ive tried everything from pill pockets, to mashing it and putting in wet food, to pretending like I was going to eat it. She spits it out or doesnt eat it at all. These need better flavoring or something!
This should be available as an unflavored or capsule for cats. My cat drools like a St Bernard even if I get it right on the back of his tongue. He has started to run whenever I get near him for fear of the bitter pill. I’ll be looking elsewhere.
Mr. Bojangles has allergies and we wanted to try something new. The store bought version had to be cut and thus he got the taste in his mouth which led to severe mouth foaming and drooling. These are supposed to be chew-able. They aren't. Once again the taste of the medicine far out weighs the "chicken" flavor. Unless you are an expert at getting pills in your cat without getting them anywhere near his tongue or cheeks, you will have to deal with a foaming and drooling miserable cat for 5-10 minutes. The 3 stars are because they actually worked once all of the drama was over. We are definitely looking for something a lot more user friendly! Chewy, as always, is the best!
My puppy was a habitual licker due to allergies. No more licking since we started this medication
I am so grateful for this company!! I found a medicine that will work for my dog, they reached out to my vet for me to request the prescription and then sent me the order!! SO EASY!! THANKS!!
I bought Vetadryl because my dog has to take diphenhydramine every day (75 mg twice a day). That's a lot of Pill Pockets, or hot dogs, or whatever medium you use to get the pills down (tossing them in meals is not ideal -- he can pick them out). So, I thought a chewable would be the answer. These things are no more chewable than the diphenhydramine (Benedryl) that you can buy in any grocery store, and they are much more expensive.
