Can't get past the smell
I have tried hiding this in treats, breaking it up and hiding in cheese, but my dog literally gags when he smells it. I also tried hiding it in peanut butter and he liked it off part of the PB, but stopped when he found the tiny piece of this chew. I have to agree with him. It smells a bit like black licorice that someone already chewed. It might work, but if they won't eat it, it doesn't work.
Give it time it works!
I work at a vet hospital and one of our vets recommended these for my pups tear stains which were really bad in his left eye. His eye was stained completely. I gave these to him and they worked like magic. It takes TIME AND PATIENCE so if you don’t have that don’t bother. It took about two months for it to completely go back to normal but it definitely worked.
Can't tell a difference
After about 10 days of use, I don't see any changes yet. One thing is for sure: These chews smell horrible.
Seems to be working for my kitten
I am not sure if this does the magic, but my kitten's tear stain improved recently. I've given her nothing, but this supplement (one chew daily, mixed in her food)
No More Tear Stains
I was skeptical, but after giving my dog a daily chew, her tear stains cleared up and no more bacteria or smells. It took 2 or 3 weeks to clear but she has not had any problems since.
Does nothing
Like the half dozen other tear stain products I tried, this does nothing. I added an extra star because my dog eats them willingly.
High hopes, but didn't work
I'd seen these in my vet's office before purchasing at Chewy, so I was hopeful they were more effective than other options. I went through 2 packs, as the instructions said it could take 60 days to take effect. However, there has been virtually no difference in my pup's red staining, or amount of tears/wetness/goopy eye discharge. They get an extra star because at least he seemed to enjoy them as a treat.
Works great!
I have a toy poodle where his eyes water really bad and stain red under them. Constantly wiping them. I thought I would try this product and it started working within a couple days. His eyes still water, however it’s clear and doesn’t leave red stains. He is a very picky eater and actually likes the taste!! Highly recommend it.
Works pretty well
Have been using this for about 3-4 weeks. Took around 2 weeks to see improvement as I have a Maltese. Have seen more improvement over time. Still a small amount of staining but a lot less. Has worked better than other things I have tried.
This product was not good for my dog.
My dog threw up on it. Not happy with the product. I was really hoping it would work.
