When switching to Veterinary Select Digestive Care + Weight Management Cat Food from another cat food, it's good to allow 7 to 10 days for the transition. Mix increasing amounts of Veterinary Select Digestive Care + Weight Management Cat Food with decreasing amounts of your cat's previous food until you are feeding only Veterinary Select Digestive Care + Weight Management Cat Food.
First let me say that I LOVE CHEWY and I DON'T like to write bad reviews! I am doing this to possibly save other pets, because I ONLY read the good reviews (at the time, I have not checked since I ordered) and not the ingredients! I loved the bag lol... I liked that one persons vet suggested it... so I ordered it. My mostly Maine Coon cat that has major digestive issues (will describe later). Currently N&D Digestive has worked great for him and Optagest Digestive Aid sprinkled on his morning dry food (he only eats dry) with water to cover it. When I read digestive and I wanted to make $50 I ordered it. The bottom line is.. .he loved it and gobbled it up but the next day... he did what he had not done in a long time. He whined and got in the tub and twitched and kicked his back leg. He hissed (my cat is a sweet cat never hisses). I got him through it with what I had including the powdered digestive aid. Just sharing this because like all of us we hate to see our loved ones in pain. Hope this helps. My cat is special. May work for others.
This was a new purchase for me and was pleased to see that both of cats started eating it right away. Will keep ordering in the future.
Our pup is a shitzu-yorkie-poodle mix and is about 10 months old. She’s been having uncontrollable bowel movements and contestant itchy skin. Since starting this food, she has had manageable bathroom habits and has all but stopped biting at her skin. I would recommend trying this food if these are the issues you’re furry buddy is having.
Both my cats seem to want to eat 20/7, leaving 4 hours to sleep on me. Nola, the female, didn’t like change at first, but then, she loved them! Simba, the male, had more of an issue. He was regularly getting sick, and we couldn’t figure out why. Thought it might have been hair balls at first. He didn’t like it at first, at all. But we stayed the course. We also feed them wet food daily as well. Cats get a lot of their moisture from the food they eat. Simba now enjoys eating this dry food as well. We’ve noticed he no longer gets sick daily, either. As with any change in diet, please stay the course, they will come around!
I feed my cats a wide variety of premium weight maintenance dry foods, never the same one twice in a row. I usually mix a couple at a time for variety. This is the first time I have used this product. My cats throw up far more frequently than normal, and it doesn't seem to be related to hairballs, just fairly soon after eating. I don't know, maybe they like it so much they eat too fast? I gave a portion to one of my dogs and she threw up quickly too. I am not trying to condem the product, but it does have ingredients that differ from the usual meat or meat-meal first formula of all my other choices. Could be the cellulose? Maybe instead, after all the variety of the other foods, the cats still need time to adjust to this product anyway. I don't know, but it is worth considering.
I've seen this brand in my vets office so I thought it would be good for my cats. They are both a little over weight. But they will not touch it. I've even mixed it in with other food and its left in the bowl.
this cat food is the best choice made. Excellant delivery
