Our dog has EPI. Dry mouth and bacteria accumulation go along with this immune mediated disease. We have been using an oral rinse after each tooth brushing since she was a puppy. at 9 1/2 years she still has pearly whites and will probably never have to go under anesthesia and have her teeth cleaned. Also keeps her breath clean. The rinse we used for years went out of production so we switched to this one. I don't like that it doesn't come with an applicator tip like the other one did. This is more difficult to apply without drowning her. Fortunately we had kept one of the old bottles so we can put the tip on the new product. But this rinse seem to be doing the job.
smells super clean!

ok.. as a human this is appealing to me!I even tried alittle :\ before to make sure i knew what i was giving my girls. super minty clean-sterile smell. To my girls...they SNEEZED alot, lol not sure what ingredient would make them both react this way and they hate mint. My one boston had a tooth extraction and i wanted her mouth to stay clean that was my reason to the purchase. there is no way a animal would let you squeeze this stuff in the mouth had to put it on a cotton ball and rub across teeth and gums. DEF make breath CLEAN:)
Vet recommended I use this item

My other two dogs have started annual dental cleanings, but for my third the dentist recommended using this to see if this would help delay starting annual cleanings. I squirt a little onto a washcloth, and rub his teeth with it, followed by a little squirt afterwards into his mouth. He seems to put up with it pretty well. (For a handful of blueberries afterwards helps).
Bear spits the gel

Hi guys, my furry friend is not a fan of this gel. I am going to try the dental products that you can add to water and see if he likes this option. I love Vetoquinol products in general such as their shampoos and conditioner.
Dogs Hate the Taste But...
on Jan 28, 2020
I have three small older dogs and all three of them despise the taste of this! The only one of the three that I can use this rinse on is blind, she can't see it coming. I read a few reviews to use a syringe and that made the application a little easier and less of a mess trying to get it into their mouths. I gave it three stars instead of one because it does seem to freshen their breath, not just immediately after application but overall. I wish there was some way to make this more palatable but giving the nature of what it is, I'm not sure how that could be possible. The verdict is still out if it actually reduces plaque but I believe fresher breath will lead to a healthier mouth.

My dog lets me apply this to her teeth. It gives her ‘just brushed’ breath. Hopefully it’ll help with her gnarly teeth before her cleaning.
Effective but a bit difficult to use

Our vet recommended that we use this oral rinse after our cat had his teeth removed. She flushed his mouth with it in the office, and it was very effective in removing retained bits of food. The vet's bottle had a long thin extension like a straw, with a bend in it, so that you could direct a very small amount of rinse to a specific area in the mouth. This bottle, on the other hand, has the type of spout that you'd find in a shampoo bottle, for example. I think it would work fine for a good-sized dog, but it puts out way too much rinse for a small cat. I ended up using a medicine dropper to put a couple drops of rinse into my cat's mouth, but of course I wasn't able to flush the food particlesOur vet recommended that we use this oral rinse after our cat had his teeth removed. My cats hate it!
on Feb 15, 2020
I can't attest to the product's effectiveness in oral cleaning, because one use and all three of my cats hate the taste of it! One of my poor babies foamed at the mouth because it tastes so bad to her. Unfortunately, I'll be attempting to return it and try something else to keep their teeth clean.

My 12 1/2 year old Parsons Russell gets his teeth brushed every day! After brushing I spray his mouth with Dentahex. His Dr. Is very impressed with his teeth ("They look like a 3 yr. olds"). I've had Fritz since he was 5 yrs., he had a so so dental before I got him, and one since then (just for cleaning). He has all his own teeth. I highly recommended daily brushing and Dentahex after. Only takes a minute, and saves your pocketbook. Also better for your pet, no sedation .My order came fast, Chewy is always fast delivery!
I have not tried this

I ordered the wrong thing. I wanted the stuff you put in their water. Maybe next time.
