I have two cats out of three who need potassium. Most likely from stress bc the younger one attacks my older cat who has seizures. My prescription gel is no longer available on line so I ordered this and lo and behold no vet script was needed. It has the added benefit of some vitamins along with the same amount of potassium I gave in the other gel. Hopefully, they will be fine on this. They won't have their blood tests to check their potassium levels until the first of next year.
My cat Ellie has been on the Renal K for at least 3 years with prescription through the clinic's pharmacy. All of a sudden they could not get it and after getting all the usual excuses, like Covid etc I called the Distributor and was told that Chewy's sells it without prescription... how great is that. I was almost out but thanks to Chewy's incredable shipping service Ellie did not miss one helping. Chewy I cannot thank you enough !
Great product and easy to administer. This is the first gel supplement that my cat actually likes and will lick off my finger. Usually for these gel supplements I have to rub it on a paw so they are forced to lick it off.
Jack will be 17 in December, and he has kidney disease (he's had it for years, but does well with the kidney RX food & other modifications to his diet). He was low on potassium, and he's up to where he should be with this.
Was buying Renal K+ from my cat’s Veterinay Hospital. They were sold out and revealed you could buy this over the counter. Great to know due to Chewy’s prices are always better than anywhere else!
I got this at the recommendation of my vet for my kitty who tends to run low on potassium due to his IBD and liver issues. He really disliked it, so it was too difficult and often torturous to get it in him. His K levels seemed to hold steady while on it though, so it must work. Too bad it's not palatable. It thick and smells so strong of maple syrup.
Our vet prescribed this gel and our cat will lick the bowl clean when we give it to her. Our worry was it would taste offensive and she would ignore it. We are thrilled that wasn't the case.
Happily, our cat eats this right out of his bowl. No need to put on his nose or on his paw. It's a little goopy, but works fine. It would be nice if there was a little clear space on the tube so you can tell when it's running low.
My elderly cat is starting to have kidney issues. He was licking the mortar between the bricks on our fireplace hearth. After some research, I realized he is anemic, due to reduced kidney function, (which includes red blood cell production). My cat likes Renal K + Gel, and after being on it, plus a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement, he has started to show substantial improvement. I mix a half teaspoon onto his canned food in the morning, and he eats all of it most days.
My hyperthyroid cat needs this until at least after her radioactive iodine treatment, which is 2 months out. I was afraid she wouldn't eat, and she won't eat it plain (i think dogs will love it) so i missed with a lickable chicken treat and she devours it. If you are a cat parent you probably know how hard it can be to medicate these fussy beasts, so I am super thankful this works!
