The non-drowsy formula uses alpha-casozepine, a natural ingredient found in cow’s milk, to help balance the stress reactions of dogs and cats safely and with no tranquilizing or sedating effects. Milk-sourced alpha-casozepine is known to promote relaxation in babies, and it works in a similar way for your pet, giving him a sense of comfort and contentment to help him cope with stress or adapt to new situations. It’s perfect for most pet stressors like loud noises, visits to the vet or groomer, as well as unfamiliar people and places. Plus, it’s free of lactose and preservatives, making it ideal for sensitive tummies.

Our vet recommended Zylkene as one of three possible products to try. We are introducing a new cat to the household who is considerably younger than the other two. He's just barely a year old. They are 18 and 12. He's big, strong, and gets overstimulated very quickly. He also escaped from his "apartment" one day and chased and injured the 12-year-old female. At first, I thought Zylkene was working a bit. I was giving it to the new boy - Rafe - and the female. Then it became clear that Rafe was not calmed very much. Zylkene is only to be used for a short time and for a maximum of two times a day. Since we couldn't increase the dosage, we needed to move to another option. We are now trying 2 others, which I'll review as we find out more4. Zylkene might work for your felines, but, alas, it didn't work for us.
I rescued my puppy from the pound and she is a little psycho. Nervously pees every time someone comes near her too "aggressively", cannot go in public without losing control of ALL of her bowels and then starts vomiting as well. Vet recommended this and she's been taking it for about a month now. She's still psycho but her fearful peeing and pooping has become less, we even took her to some family's house for the weekend and she got along with the other dog that was there. I'm impressed with how it has worked for her.
We have a rescue dog who is particularly sensitive to loud sounds. After summer backyard renovation work was completed and the machinery had cleared, she would not go in the backyard without shaking and drooling. We got Vetquinol and 2 days after taking it twice daily, she started going outside without shaking - and is almost back to normal! We had almost given up hope but this has really helped level out her fears. We will wean her off but will keep this on hand for the next time her fears take over and paralyze her.
Our cat Jack was getting anxious causing him to go "out" of the litter box, This 75 mg version of the product was very helpful in letting Jack be his normal self, and he started going back to using his litter box almost right away.. still trying to figure out the source of the anxiety, but in the mean time it is really helping him. The pricing of the 200 count bottle was very helpful.. but the pricing for the big bottle of 450 mg for the big puppy who gets upset on occasions due to fireworks loving neighbors and etc... was ridiculously priced and I am still stuck ordering that one one 30 count bottle at a time... thankfully 7 small bottles have taken me through an entire year. Thank you for a very helpful product.
My cat freaks out when company comes. Hides, doesn’t eat and gets comstipated. I need to calm him when company comes for a week.. No matter what food I put it in, he must have smelt it. Dry, wet, even tuna!! Walked away and cried for food. This med needs to be in tablet form so I can get it down his throat He takes tablets just fine. Very expensive and unable to use. Do not recommend for cats in this capsule form which you open to put on or in food..
My cat loves this stuff. LOVES IT. He is a very nervous guy, and this does seem to help him relax a bit more. He will never be mellow, but he seems happier and more relaxed.
I have a couple fairly intense cats so am always looking for something to help with toe trims, doctor visits, car rides, etc. This stuff works but doesn't completely zombie them out like some prescription meds. I'll keep using it.
I've used this product with success in the past when I had a cat with hyperthyroidism. In addition to his meds this helped keep him calm in general. Now, I have an older (13 years) boy who seems to be exhibiting signs of arthritis. So, in addition to other supplements specifically meant for easing arthritis pain/inflammation, I am just starting to give him this to keep him relaxed. It's only been a couple of days. He seems pretty calm but I'm not sure I can attribute it to Zyklene or not, yet. My gut says it does calm cats down in a gentle way...I don't like sedation.
My cat, who is afraid of everything, gets a sprinkle on her wet food every nite. Calms her down alittlle.
purchased to calm anxiety for my half chihuahua and shih-zu mix dog. It did not work to calm him for the flight we took.
