Description

Help keep your furry friend calm during stressful times with the Vetoquinol Zylkene Behavior Support Capsules Medium Dog Supplement 225 mg. The non-drowsy formula uses alpha-casozepine, a natural ingredient found in cow’s milk, to help balance the stress reactions of dogs safely and with no tranquilizing or sedating effects. Milk-sourced alpha-casozepine is known to promote relaxation in babies, and it works in a similar way for your pal, giving him a sense of comfort and contentment to help him cope with stress or adapt to new situations. It’s perfect for most doggie stressors like loud noises, visits to the vet or groomer, as well as unfamiliar people and places. Plus, it’s free of lactose and preservatives, making it ideal for sensitive doggies’ tummies.

Look for the Signs

Animals can't tell us when they feel upset, but they can show us in many different ways. Keep an eye on them and look for the telltale signs that they might be distressed. These include sleep pattern changes, more or less social interaction with people or animals, reduced play, hiding, weight loss or gain, withdrawal, barking and howling incessantly or more than usual, repetitive and excessive licking or over-grooming, house soiling, or trying to run away.

Just Mix and Serve for Gentle Relief

Just Mix and Serve for Gentle Relief

Zylkene is easy to administer to your pet whenever you're expecting an event like upcoming holidays, visits or vet trips. It comes in capsule form, and you can give it whole or break it open to mix with meals or treats. You only need to give it once daily, starting a few days before the event to bring calming relief.

A Safe Alternative to Sedatives

This supplement is ideal for pet parents who are looking for an alternative to overpowering medications. Zylkene won't cause sedation or drowsiness or cause your pets to be less alert. The main ingredient is a natural, bovine-sourced milk protein called casein. It's the same protein found in mother's milk that has a soothing effect on pups and kitties.

  • Surprisingly dog is calmer

    By on

Our dog was scared of the new cockatiel. He had been used to a parrot, but this bird made him stop eating, refuse to come in from the backyard and generally tremble in the bird's presence. After taking these capsules for a week in combination with a calming collar, he is back to normal. He ignores the bird even if he walks right past the cage. I ordered more of them to keep him calm during the transition. I am hoping to be able to stop them completely after 6 weeks of use. We will see.

  • Best non-sedative calmer I have used yet!

    By on

I have tried so many calming aides for my 13 year old dog and she has only been getting worse. She destroys things if we aren’t here and she gets triggered and has hurt herself in the past. She still did some minor damage when we left for vacation last month, but nothing compared to what she has done in the past and the Dog Sitter and I were able to find a comfort space for her to help with daily doses of this. I highly recommend it.

  • Worst flight of my life!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

Gave this to my dog as directed for our flight from Baltimore to Texas. It didn’t seem to have any effect on her at first, we have flown several times before and she has been mostly fine but I wanted to be on the safe side since so many dogs are on planes now. But when we got on the plane, when I needed it the most she freaked out and ran under 6 rows of seats. I’ll stick to Benadryl —total nightmare!

  • Correct dose makes the difference

    By on

I originally purchased the 75mg capsules for two of our cats, one who suddenly started spraying and the other who had become aggressive towards the other cats. I went through the entire bottle, dosing each cat with 75 mg/day with no real results. During a visit to the vet, she sang the praises of Zylkene, so I decided to take another look. It was then that I realized that I was dosing too low. All of our cats are over 10 pounds, which means they need more than 75 mg/day. So, I bought the 225 mg capsules and split them between the two (about 112 mg/each) and definitely saw some improvement. I have since tried Zylkene on our girl who had been hiding under the sofa for a week and peeing outside I originally purchased the 75mg capsules for two of our cats, one who suddenly started spraying and the other who had become aggressive towards the other cats. So, I bought the 225 mg capsules and split them between the two (about 112 mg/each) and definitely saw some improvement. I have since tried Zylkene on our girl who had been hiding under the sofa for a week and peeing outside the litter box; she is now sequestered in a spare bedroom where she can regain her composure and is currently taking the recommended 150 mg/day; however, an initial 2-day dosing of 225 mg/day made her a "new" cat. She is calm, affectionate, purring, using the litter box all the time, and actually sleeping next to me at night. (I'm sleeping in the spare room with her while she gets her mojo back; we'll slowly re-introduce her back into the general population once we are fairly certain that everyone has calmed down). I agree with the other reviewers who note that this product is pricey. That's why I initially split the 225 mg capsule, rather than giving them each two 75 mg capsules per day (at that rate, if I want to dose all 3 cats, a 30-capsule 75 mg bottle lasts only 5 days). I have since found it a little less expensive to buy the 450 mg capsules and just split one capsule between the 3 cats so that they each get the recommended 150 mg. It's still over $50 per month, but I'm hoping that at some point I can reduce the dose to 150 mg every other day and then, hopefully, less and less until they're all back to normal. So, 1) make sure you're using the correct dose for your cat's weight; if your cat is over 10 pounds, use the recommended dose of 150 mg (it doesn't say that on the bottle, but it does on the web site), and 2) give it some time; while this worked quickly for our girl cat, it took about a week before it really took effect on the male cats. … more

  • recommended by my animal behaviorist

    By on

This supplement was recommended by my behaviorist who is a graduate of Cornell in animal behavior. My dog is has been medically diagnosed with anxiety and this supplement really helped. I could see the change the same day as the supplement does not have a load up period and acts right away. I was pleasantly surprised and happy I have this option.

  • Works over time

I give this to both of my dogs for anxiety. This stuff does work but you have to be consistent and give it time to build in the system.

  • It helped one kitty but not another

    By on

My vet recommended this for one of my kitties who was spraying, to take along with his prescription Clomicalm. It did not make a difference with that kitty. I am giving it to another kitty who was being a bully to another kitty. This supplement seems to tone down her bullying.

  • Works great!

    By on

I learned about these in a clinic i worked at and asked my dog's vet about them, as he gets carsick and has anxiety sometimes out of nowhere. This works well for my border collie/pom mix with all the quirks of the border collie, including anxiety of sudden changes or if i am in a stressful mood due to vet school. Normally when i notice he is acting strange, i give it to him. Initially, it took a few weeks to kick in, giving everyday, but now I see changes in about a few days of giving it, even if he hasn't had them in a while. He is also on Zuke calming treat everyday. I and other people in my family saw a great improvement with these. He is bolder, not as skittish, and appetite was great; normally I learned about these in a clinic i worked at and asked my dog's vet about them, as he gets carsick and has anxiety sometimes out of nowhere. Barely need them now since he seems to have gained some permanent confidence. … more

  • Very Helpful!

    By on

Our dog is a rescue, and she has been struggling with stress and overreacting. Although zylkene hasn't solved our problem, we are hopeful it's taking the edge off her so she can be trained easier. In the last 2 months, we have noticed significant improvements! (less reactional, more relaxed)

My toy Aussie puppy mill survivor takes this daily and it really helps with her anxiety, it a great product. However I was very disappointed with chewy auto ship. Prices you sign up for are not what you are charged!
