VetriScience Laboratories’ Cardio-Strength For Cats and Dogs is a capsule formula designed to support cardiovascular health and function in dogs and cats. Cardio-Strength features 11 synergistic ingredients that are vital for elderly animals, and is recommended to support animals with pre-existing sub-optimal cardiovascular functions, breeds that are disposed to cardiovascular stress, or geriatric dogs. It is designed to support heart muscles and cardiovascular functions, as well as reduce oxidative stress and support circulation and better oxygen utilization. Ingredients like L-taurine support regular heartbeat while minimizing the loss of potassium and supporting proper electrolyte utilization.
The inclusion of potassium is necessary for maintaining electrolyte balance. DMG acts as an antioxidant and supports circulation and immune system health, while CoQ10 supports heart tissue oxygenation and heart muscle strength. L-carnitine supports the use of fat for energy and oxygen utilization while also supporting fat metabolism and helping the body balance triglyceride and cholesterol levels. EPA and GLA (fatty acids) support circulation and blood flow, and ingredients like vitamin E support normal clotting and healthy capillary strength, making Cardio-Strength an incredibly comprehensive formula for cardiovascular health.

For cats owners read
By Laura on Oct 21, 2020
Not sure if it works but I will give a try. One of my cat passed from RCM and now my other cat jas murmur. We are waiting and appointment with yhr cardiologist, but I want yo do whatever I can to avoid congestive heart failure. The pill is very big but you can buy smaller ones(I use capsuline size 2) and divided into 2 pills. I think other owners just spread the content over food. I added some pictures. I will update as soon as I have more information

Great product but hard for fussy cats
By AmyK on Aug 4, 2020
I have 2 cats (G & Jerry). Jerry recently having showing signs of potential DCM that his vet told me about. We have to take another xray to confirm but meanwhile his vet recommended he should be on taurine supplements. My cats refuse raw diet so I have to stick to supplements. I love the product and how easy it is to administer (1 capsule a day where you pour powder on food). BUT Jerry is not a fish lover and when you open the capsule you smell this fishy oil type of smell (perhaps due to the mixture components). Its like a lottery with Jerry, sometimes he slurps his food with it or sometimes he smells his favorite food but doesn't eat when I put the supplement. So far I have to add this to his I have 2 cats (G & Jerry). Jerry recently having showing signs of potential DCM that his vet told me about. So far I have to add this to his most irresistable food (Wellness signatures, Wellness turkey minced, Merrick Backcountry duck pouches) to get him to eat 50%-100% of it. But I think its working! I have given him this supplement for about 2-3 weeks and when he runs around to play his panting and nostrils expanding to breathe has gotten less frequent. I am still in the search for some tasteless taurine just to make sure he eats it (I am trying vegan human taurine supplement next to see). BUT like mentioned this product works and is great for either non-picky babies or babies who don't mind the fishy smell :) … more

Hopefully Effective
By 11LW on Aug 12, 2020
My dog has a grade 3 heart murmur. I’ve been feeding her 1 of these capsules and alternately feeding a Vetri Science Chew on the following day. I open the capsule, sprinkling on her food. It’s really stinky, the odor causes me concern. I’ve noticed that the contents of the capsule is getting chunkier and harder to sprinkle. It might be helping her, I really don’t know. I much prefer the chew. Today, I tossed the remainder of the Vetri Science capsules in the trash. The odor is disgusting. My dog doesn’t seem to mind but I’ll continue using Vetri Science Chews, no more capsules. Stored in a closed bottle in an air conditioned room but it looked to me like humidity may have been a factor.

Changing review from 3 to 5 stars
By Hector2 on Jul 27, 2020
I have previously posted a 3 stars review because I didn't like the too big capsules for a cat... but I just feel it would be fair for other cat owners to know that the content of the pills does seem to work once you figure out how to transfer it into smaller capsules. My cat seems to have a better appetite since I started giving them to him. I believe (though not confirmed) that taurine & other ingredients in this product help his heart condition (related to hyperthyroidism), in addition to his prescribed medication of course.

Mighty big for a 15 lb cat
By queenopearls on Aug 1, 2020
Average size capsule for an adult human but not for a 15 lb. cat. I tried putting it in his food and he snubbed it. I opted to take a tiny bit of coconut oil and put it in a container over warm water to melt it. Once the oil melts, I mix in a capsule and swipe the concoction on his front paws. Sure I get some residual stuff on surfaces but my cat means more to me that surfaces. I've only used this product for about 3 or 4 days. Fingers crossed.

Great Supplement
By Ashley on Aug 14, 2020
I have a breed susceptible to DCM. Of course, it’s mostly genetic. But, I add this supplement anyway. The pills break open and I dump on food with no issues. During a routine heart screening all of my dogs passed. Again, mostly genetics, but it’s nice to know I’m doing everything I can on my end too.

Pleased so far
By lizdog24 on Jul 13, 2020 Top 250 Contributor
I purchased Cardio Strength for our 12 and a half year old terrier mix, Holly. She was diagnosed with a grade 3 out of 6 heart murmur. She would pant often. I have had 2 dogs in the past on Vetmedin, Enalapril, and Fluid pills. I wanted to try this product in hopes of avoiding these meds. I open a capsule into her food. She eats everything with great gusto. She hasn't been on Cardio Strength for very long, but does seem to have more energy and doesn't pant as much.

No complaints
By terrible on Jul 7, 2020
This was recommended by the vet, since he is so sensitive and missing nutrients in his diet. I think it's a great alternative to grain-free if your dog is at risk for heart disease/DCM. He doesn't mind the taste of it sprinkled on his food.

So Far, Me and Vet and Big Buds Caruso Love The Results!
By Cocokitten on Jun 9, 2020
I have a big fat cat. Well, he's big boned. He was diagnosed with a heart murmur 6 months ago. After a blood test, my vet recommended he'd see a cardiologist. This doctor said he had thickening on his heart walls. I scoured the internet for something that might help him. He was too early to take any medications and I lost my other furry soulmate just years earlier to heart disease. Wasn't going to happen with my Caruso! Anyway, I first found Young At Heart on Chewy's and used that for 6 months. (Liquid drops) Then I read about missing ingredients in grain free foods. He can only have grain free or he gets an upset tummy and that's not fun. So I started him on this for the past 2 weeks I have a big fat cat. Well, he's big boned. He HATES the smell of these capsules, so I have to mix dry chicken over it. We went to the cardiologist today and I'm happy to report that he heart is the same and hasn't gotten worse! I'm hoping with this regime, that it'll stay this way. I highly recommend these 2 products. … more

Too large for a cat
By Hector on Jul 14, 2020
Like the title says. Unless you want to feed it to a tiger, no way a cat would swallow these. Would have been good if the seller made a note about it.
