They are “hydrolyzed”, processed and partially digested, leaving very little of the reactive proteins available. By NOT having a full protein mass it can be used in "hypo-allergenic" diets and is generally considered safe for dogs with allergies. If you know that your dog has a specific chicken allergy, or you suspect this may be the case, we suggest that you contact your veterinarian and discuss the source of the chicken flavoring that we use. And when in doubt, with your veterinarian’s approval we also suggest using a partial dose to observe possible allergic symptoms, and then decide to use or discontinue use.

Yes, you can. According to our experts, use your best judgement based on your dog’s condition. For more severe cases you can double the dose indicated on the label for the first 3-4 weeks, and then cut back to what is on the label for ongoing maintenance. This gives your dog’s body time to produce new cartilage and repair the joints. If your dog experiences any issues such as diarrhea, then cut back on the dose and slowly ramp up the dose again when possible.
