    Gluten Free but not Grain Free

    I have Celiac Disease and so have a strict gluten free household to avoid any cross contamination. But I did not want to feed my puppy (who is almost a dog now) grain free. It is not easy to find a kibble without wheat, rye, barley or oats. A whippet breeder suggested I try Victor - which my local Mud Bay and All the Best had never heard of. It has been a great food base; I mix in a little pumpkin and wet food. If you have celiac and really need gluten free dog food but don’t want grain free - give Victor’s a try. … more

    Moldy Chunks

    First, the good. I have given my dogs Victor food for a couple years now and been very pleased with it. I hunt and provide our dogs with venison & wild hog, but dogs need much more than meat or they'll get Rickets. The probiotics solved one of our dog's daily horrific toxic chemical flatulence (forced to run attic fan on cold nights ...one 14 degree night). After giving our dogs almost a forth of a bag, we started finding moldy chunks clumped together. The surrounding dog food looks normal but the chunks are obviously covered in mold. Perhaps some machinery had some caught and it's breaking loose, or maybe some of the dog food was wet when it was packaged. I'm not afraid of Victor food as I know this type of thing can happen and hopefully it is seldom. I will try Victor via Chewy if they provide a refund, and I'm sure they will. If it happens again I'll change brands. … more
