I have fed this oat hay to my bunnies and have been ordering for at least a year. Normally I receive a beautiful box of green, fragrant oat hay- not this time. The hay was yellow and my bunnies would rather use it for bedding than eat it this time. I will be contacting customer service and questioning the quality of the product I received.
I am allergic to both timothy and orchard hay, and thought we'd found a solution with Oxbow oat hay, but our guinea pigs hated it and refused to eat it - it was all yellow and straw-like. Thank goodness for The Viking Farmer hay!!!! It's much more green and tender, and they LOVE it! I'm keeping a close eye to make sure the seed heads aren't too high calorie for them (they go for those right away), but I can genuinely say that this hay has made all the difference - a solution for both me and them.
I have ordered the Viking oat hay several times and my seven guinea pigs LOVE it - I give it to them as a treat and it is devoured quickly, Thank you Viking Farmer and Chewy!
Our bunnies love the crunchiness of the oat hay. When I open the box, they try to jump in. It’s a good buy for the amount and seems to be a good quality product.
My rabbits only eat the leafy parts of oat hay and this comes with a lot of it!! I'm half water through the box and I haven't seen any rocks nor dirt. This was only my first order but will be back for more!
I bought this hay the second time it looks totally different than the first time and my rabbit won't eat it. How can they sell something totally different with the same name? It's like Apple and peach. Never buy it anymore
My guinea pigs go bonkers for this oat hay. They absolutely love it, the quality is unmatched compared to store bought brands. This smells like fresh cut hay and looks green/not brittle or over dry. I did not find dirt or rocks in any of my boxes. The hay is a great value, more affordable than other brands as well. My boxes of hay have been well packed, there are plenty of the tops of the hay stalks for them to forage for and they immediately notice when they get new hay. So far this has been the best hay I've found for my pig
I have a very picky rabbit and I have tried so many different kinds of hay and this is finally the one he will eat. The quality is fresh and he loves it. A definite winner!
The hay itself looked and smelled great, but unfortunately as soon as stared filling the feeder with it some huge lumps of dirt fell out of it. It was concerning enough for me not to give it to my guinea pigs, so I threw most of it out. And I’m glad I did since in the middle of it I found a few had rocks. It’s highly disappointing since usually Viking Farmer company has pretty good hay.
This was my 2nd order of Oat Hay from Viking. I kept the hay in the original box and I've been taking out a little at a time to feed my guinea pigs. I'm about 1/2 way through and I noticed that there was a lot of (what looked like) fine dirt falling off the hay when I was pulling it out of the box. I know that hay comes from the farm, and that there's dirt on a farm too, but I feel that feeding hay coated in dirt to guinea pigs is not the best for them. I don't recall seeing this dirt when I ordered my first box. I'm now debating whether to order from this vendor again.
