Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Questions & Answers

3 Customer Questions

Will the medication not be effective if I apply dry shampoo onto my dog's hair?
Answer by ChewyNov 23, 2022
EFFITIX PLUS Topical Solution for Dogs remains effective after bathing, shampooing, water immersion or sunlight exposure.

What’s the “Plus”? My dog is on Effitix but this is effitix Plus. Thanks
Answer by ChewyNov 14, 2019
This treatment features a powerful combination of highly-effective fipronil, permethrin and pyriproxyfen. The Plus formula begins working immediately upon application to quickly and effectively kill and repel fleas–including eggs, larvae and pupae, ticks, mosquitoes, chewing lice and biting flies. Effitix Topical Solution for Dogs only contains fipronil, permethrin and it repels and kills fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, lice and mites.

Is it safe for cats to be in contact with a dog who has had this product applied?
Answer by ChewyApr 29, 2019
It's recommended to separate your cat from your dog until the treatment is fully dry.

The ONLY treatment I will use!

This is absolutely worth the extra cost. I have a husky that has no issues with any flea drops we use, but I also have a small Pomeranian-boston terrier mix that has sensitivities to most drops. Every one we've tried before this, he usually will have a range of negative effects from vomiting to seizures until we wash it off. The vet recommended this, and it works GREAT! The small dog has no issues and is comfortable and flea free! BUY THIS ONE!

Flea life cycle is 3 months

LOVE effitix. Works like a charm-and we live out in nature! What many don’t realize is that it takes three months to get rid of the entire lifecycle of the flea. Apply effitix once a month, on the same day each month. If you see fleas on your pet, a ton more will be in the living environment. Help cut down their numbers by vacuuming carpets and upholstery, wash dog bedding frequently, use a pet-safe flea product under shrubs, etc. Regardless of what you use, you will see fleas until the life cycle dies out completely. Effitix is doing it’s job, but it can’t eradicate what takes three months in a single day people.

Bad reaction

Both of my dogs (shih tzu and teddy bear) had a reaction to this topical. They have both always been fine with topicals, but I just ordered Effitix for the first time off of Chewy. They both started itching within hours. I had to bath them both with Dawn dish soap after consulting the company and one is still itching and going to the vet tomorrow. Chewy and Virbac have both been great to work with through this process, but feel so bad for my babies.

Will need to use it longer

I gave it 3 stars because I want to give it a chance. I was using Frontline up until I changed to Effitix as the Frontline stopped working. I had read Effitix also repels fleas, not just kills them. I put it on my dogs as directed on 9/22/18 and they seemed to be flea free for about a week, but now they are getting at least 1-2 fleas on them each time they go outside and are attacked by many mosquitos. I have to comb them every single time. The flea bites cause allergy issues so this has been frustrating. We are treating our home daily and doing all we possibly can and was really hoping the change to Effitix would help, but so far, only has worked a week. I plan to use it again next month in hopes it just will take time. Chewy is a great company. Their shipping is fast and prices are awesome.

Does not work!

I bought this product after using Virbac's Knockout E.S. spray in my infested home. The Knockout spray works great, but topical treatment for my dog did not work. I have treated her twice with this and she still has fleas crawling all over her. Poor girl itches like crazy, even with using apple cider vinegar for the itch. I feel this was a waste of money and will be writing the company directly.
