We have Newfoundland's and they are always getting the wax in their ears as their ears are long with a lot of fur. Just put the tip into the ear canal, use your finger to guide it as you will feel that the inside to the canal goes like an L. Make sure you massage the lower part of the ear in an upward movement. This will help it to disperse inside. Do this once a week to help the ear stay clean, and to avoid any future infections, and will keep the inside of the ears red free. I always buy two bottles as I have two newfs.
After an issue with another product (it was an otc ear mite treatment), my cat's ears became irritated, so until I could get him in to see the vet, I used Epi-Otic to clean his ears. It's a lot gentler, and he responded really well to it. It turns out Epi-Otic is also what my cat's vet uses. I had to soak a cotton ball with it and drip it in his ear that way while brushing him, and he did OK with it. I have a pretty calm cat though, so your results may vary.
We have used this for years. We used to get it from our Vet back home but now we have been transferred and lost her amazing care. Luckily, though this product was available through chewy saving our ‘kids’ ears. We French a cotton ball, put that in their ear, and rub with slight pressure on the cotton ball. That puts it into their ear canal slower and they don’t freak out, run, hide, or shake too soon. Only took use decades and an angry rebellious Mastiff with chronic ear infections to figure that out. ;-D
I love this product! Basset hound owners know the ears are problematic and this takes care of the smell, head shaking, itching on the floor, etc. The older they get the more prone they are to frequent ear infections and this product keeps them away!!! I use atleast once a week, even more during the summer when it is hot and humid.
My sweet little 7 year old beagle has never had issues. We ran out of the ear cleaner from the vets office so decided to give this stuff a shot. After using it her ears became swollen, red and scabbed. Not to mention the smell is horrific.
My dog used to get minor ear infections 2-3 times a year, we would know when he begin to shake his head more often than normal on walks. Since I've started using this to clean his ears every week or every other week he hasn't had any infections at all, and his ears are squeaky clean. It took some time for him to get used to using it. I can tell it makes his ears cold because his skin turns pale. But he tolerates it and it's worth it. The 8oz bottles last me a while (maybe I buy 2-3 bottles a year), and I use beyond generous amount. It smells good too. It leaves his entire head smelling good for days.
Love the Epi-Soothe Shampoo & Conditioner, so we decided to give this a try as our dog gets an ear issue about once a year. This is very easy to apply and dog tolerates the application process with no resistance. We'll see if it keeps us out of an infection this year...
Since using this Epi-Otic ear cleaner my vet recommended for my dog her stopped the constant ear infections have stopped. After her weekly bath I just put in her ears and she is all set. This is my second bottle and this time I bought the large size.
Product works well on my Lab Sheperd, who often lays outside with her ears on the cement walk. When she comes in, we make sure to clean her ears, to prevent ear infections.
i followed other reviewers advise, and applied to a cotton ball, and my cat was ok with that! worked well, lightly scented, not at all overpowering! i think its a winner!
