  • Great Brand

My two love the Vital Essentials brand. We tried the patties for the first time. They like them dry and wet. They are easy to break up. I usually combine these with the Vital Essentials Nibblets for their dinner.

  • Better than Frozen

    By on

I had bought the raw frozen big patties from VE beef formula and with my puppy being a French Bulldog I really liked the no grain only meat and organ and bone this offered. However according to feeding directions she would only need 1/2 to 3/4 patty per feeding. I would defrost the patty but due to size of it we wouldn’t use the whole patty. Now I had fresh raw meat that had been thawed. I stored in the refrigerator but I noticed the meat got darker and dried a bit on top. I kept it in Ziploc bag on plate I defrosted on. So I couldn’t figure out why my puppy had such diarrhea. I’ve been feeding raw since 2000 so I’m not a newbie but in my previous dogs none had any diarrhea. As matter of fact, their poop was very minimal (body was using all nutrients. Not much waste to expel) had little odor and turned white quickly and crumbled into grass. We’re on week 4 now so I tried to think what could be causing it.....all I can come up with is the frozen/defrosted pattie doesn’t keep. She had one night of non stop vomiting and thankfully I had already ordered the freeze dried VE from Chewy!!! Now there’s no leftover. I can rehydrate and feed immediately. Nothing left over to refrigerate. For me and my small-ish dog, this is far and away the Best option for us! … more

My dog was recovering from old dog syndrome and was being very picky about his food until I tried this. He loves it and eats with gusto now.

  • Not comparable to other freeze-dried patties.....

    By on

I tried this brand because of the price and ingredients comparable to the higher-priced patties which i've been buying for about a year. There was a distinct difference in the composition. These were not very consistent in the shape, had visible globules of fat the size of a pea, a very coarse texture and felt like it had hair or fur mixed in when crumbled. Eeeewww..... The hounds did eat it but it was not something I'll buy again. Perhaps the hair/fur contributes to the "protein" analysis, but it has a distinctly unpalatable appearance and an unpleasant touch.

  • Dogs Are Crazy For This Food

    By on

My dogs have tried a lot of raw and freeze-dried foods, and Vital Essentials has to be their favorite. They go nuts for it. So glad I found this food for them, especially since it has such fantastic ingredients for them. It lasts just as long as similar freeze-dried foods, and they go crazy for it. Definitely worth the price to keep my Chi and Chi/Pug mix healthy and happy. If I could afford it, I would switch our other dogs to it, too.

  • This saved my dog’s life

    By on

My 14 year old papillon had been dealing with diarrhea off and on for three years. After umpteen worming and visits and treatments from 3 different vets, a canine nutritionist turned me to Vital Essentials. No more diarrhea!! He had become allergic to elements in most dry foods and even some canned foods.

  • My dog does not like it

    By on

My dog goes crazy with freeze dried dog food like primal or stella&chewy, so I also tried this but my dog refused to eat it at all and won't even touch it. I was very surprised because its almost the first time my dog refused to eat the freeze dried dog food.

  • Awesome raw diet food

    By on

I have been feeding Vital Essentials raw foods (both the beef and turkey) to my dog for about 2 months now and we are both very happy! He craves this food at dinner time and his reaction to it tells me everything. He literally jumps up and down for it. I appreciate the ingredients because it contains only what a dog needs.....protein!....and the essential nutrients that come from organ meats. The patties are easy to crumble up and can be fed as is or rehydrated with warm water. Plus, the food is made and sourced in the USA, which is very important to me.

our dog gets the freeze dried beef, turkey and chicken bits. wanted something a little bigger occasionally. these patties are just what we wanted for our dog. the chicken hearts are also enjoyed by our dog. started in these when our daughter used for her dog who is allergic to so many things. love the fast service. wish we could get the chicken or turkey in patties for a variety.
