Complete and balanced single protein diet is ideal for any dogs with food sensitivities or allergies and can be fed as a treat, topper or a complete meal.
No added hormones, antibiotics, colors, fillers, flavorings and no synthetic vitamins or minerals.
Exclusive freeze-drying process retains all active nutritional elements in the food while allowing the food to be safely and conveniently stored without refrigeration.
Sourced, made and packed in the USA in a USDA certified facility.
Feed up to double the amount for puppies and pregnant or nursing dogs.
Wash hands, utensils, counters, food dishes and related areas thoroughly with hot, soapy water after each feeding. Store freeze - dried products in a cool dark place. Best if fed within 30 days after opening.
Switch to a purely RAW diet slowly. Some pets may take to RAW immediately, while others may take longer. Take at least 10 days to 2 weeks to gradually transition your pet’s diet. This gives the digestive system time to adjust to the new food.
Step 1: Choose a protein (stick with the same protein for the first 2 weeks)
Step 2 (Day 1 - 3): Serve 25% RAW mixed with 75% current food
Step 3 (Day 4 - 6): Serve 50% RAW mixed with 50% current food
Step 4 (Day 7 - 9): Serve 75% RAW mixed with 25% current food
My dog just loves this food. He was having some digestive problems and when we switched to this food he started doing much better.
My raw fed dog enjoys these in his kong for snacks
on Nov 27, 2017
I purchased this to fill my Belgian Malinois' kong toys and freeze with pumpkin covering the hole. He loves these treats! Keeps him busy for a bit. It's also a perfect size for training (I use if I run out of my training jerky I dehydrate). He eats a raw diet so this is just supplemental. I figure it's also a good back up in case I can't feed raw (for a trip for example). I store this in the refrigerator.
vital essentials stink

smell awful. 3yo 80# lab with insatiable hunger refused these his first few tries, only reluctantly eats these. only 2nd time in his life he has not liked something...
Dogs love this stuff

Holding up the bag is the only thing that consistently gets all 3 dogs inside. They love it!
We love this food!
on Jul 29, 2017
Our Basenji thrives on this food - in fact, on all of the Vital Essential foods we've tried so far. This stuff is not inexpensive, but we think it is worth it for the health of our girl, the convenience, and the fact that she happens to love it. We've used the beef, chicken, and turkey formulas, mostly in combination, as well as several of the treats, and they have all worked out so well for us. We hope to stay on this for a long time to come.
Great for picky pups

Picky puppies love this. Go crazy at the sight of this bag. Worth the cost! Perfect size!
Love the ingredients but...
on Dec 18, 2017
I love the ingredients and my Izzy has enjoyed it. I do not love that I cannot reconstitute it like I can with the brand I have been using. I have let it soak in water for up to an hour and it still only slightly softens it. I may buy the treats in the future but will not be buying this again because I feel like it is important to get moisture through food as well as having a bowl of water available. I will keep searching for a better alternative to what I’ve been feeding her.
Dogs liked it but too expensive
on Aug 27, 2017
Our dogs clearly liked this product and it is convenient to mix in kibble to enhance taste, but it seems far too expensive when contrasted to just buying hamburger to mix in their food. Try it and you decide what is best for your wallet.
now my dogs wont eat anything else
on Jul 13, 2017
I have two picky dogs so I bought this in hopes of using this as a topper/mixer for their kibble. Turns out, these "niblets" are much bigger than I was imagining. AND my dogs love these so much that my idea of using this as a mixer didnt work at all as my dogs easily can pick these out of their food due to the size. So now my dogs wont eat anything else but these so now this has become their stand-alone meal.
