    Stinky but a winner!!!

    By on

Long story short we’d been having trouble finding a food that Koda would eat (picky!) and also that was good for him (ingredients, specific mineral/vitamin levels and moisture) and was easy to feed. Raw isn’t an option in our lifestyle at the moment and someone suggested freeze dried raw. PERFECT. These patties are stinky, feel weird to crumble but ultimately they have our kitty BEGGING for them at every meal. I wish there were larger bag sizes available but still a win in my book.

Cats say no to this food.

    By on Top 10 Contributor

None of my 3 cats will eat this food. Not dry, wet or any other way it is offered to them. When sprinkled on their wet food, they won't go near the food. While I like the ingredients, my cats disagree with my opinion and highly voiced their displeasure with the smell of this food. They wouldn't even taste it so my rating is solely based on their total rejection. Also, as some reviews have correctly stated ..... there are a lot of large, sharp pieces of bone in this food. Those bones are much larger than in any other freeze dried raw food that my cats eat. Maybe it's only a problem in this Duck flavor but I had to pick out those bones every time I offered this to them. If they had liked this food None of my 3 cats will eat this food. cat loves this

    By on

I feed my cat homemade diet with beef chicken turkey and pork but want her to get other varieties of protein too. So I’ve been feeding her a few pieces of freeze dried nuggets from duck and rabbit meat everyday. She loved S&C’s but we tried this with her yesterday and I think she liked it more based on her reactions. She gets 1/4-1/2 a patty for snack at dawn from the auto feeder everyday before we wake up and feed her breakfast and she loves it. I’m also not going to feed this as main meal because of the high phosphorus content (and of course also because it’s a little expensive).

    great as a treat

    By on

I know some people were dismayed that they broke apart during shipping but I use these as a treat so I break them apart anyway. It is delicate so shipping might cause some to break. I can’t afford to give them this as their regular food so I break some small pieces as a treat. I haven’t tried reconstituting it yet but so far my cats love it! I’m thankful for this product because I live in the desert so I can’t have regular raw food shipped here. This is a great product. I do provide plenty of water for them though, because it’s so dry.

3 out of 3 Cats Love This

    By on

I thought we would try this product when my one cat was diagnosed with stomatitis. We are trying to eliminate all chicken and seafood from her diet to see if it helps with the flare ups. We tried a couple of other things but this was the biggest hit. They all cannot get enough of this food. The patties are convenient and easy to portion out. They rehydrate very well using water from out electric tea kettle then letting it cool a little before serving. Also, it works very well for mixing in my kitties supplements for her stomatitis. I cannot recommend this and the other flavors enough.

    Love it !!!!!

I wanted to get my then 15 yr old (dry food entire life) off commercial dry food to prevent diabetes (which I've had 2 diabetic cats) and kidney disease. It took 3 yrs to get her off dry. These patties are what did it (tried every brand of food). All my cats love all the flavors. She never went back to dry. They use to be packaged in trays and arrived in whole patties (larger package also). Since the change to zip lock bags which don't zip after awhile they are mostly broken in pieces. I did call company. I was told from VE that one patty is 0.5 oz. I do wish they wouldn't use bone though as kidney disease needs low phosphorus.

Senior Cat LOVES both the Nibs + Patties!! Her annual lab tests are 5 Stars!

    By on

3 years ago, my cat was urinating more often than usual. My vet ran some tests & found that she may be pre-diabetic & wanted to start her on insulin & a rx cat food. (The ingredients are HORRIBLE! I did not buy it or start her on the insulin). Her kidney values were also slightly elevated. I already researched that dry cat food is NOT good for cats and the RX cat food is made with cheap junky fillers. I switched her to a pate' high quality canned food, which I get from Chewy. I went back to the vet 2 weeks later for new tests and guess what?!! All of her levels were now normal! Thank goodness I researched this, if not she would be on insulin and RX cat food and maybe not doing as well. In 3 years ago, my cat was urinating more often than usual. Thank goodness I researched this, if not she would be on insulin and RX cat food and maybe not doing as well. In the last year, I introduced my cat to the Vital Cat Line of Nibs and Patties due to the ingredients and the fact they are freeze dried with all the great ingredients cats need. There are different flavors but my angel loves the Duck. How to introduce your cat...This is important, like many new buyers to freeze dried, there are steps to slowly introduce your cat to these products. I was disappointed when I followed the instructions, saw my cat sniff and walk away. I had high hopes. But I didn't give up. SHE LOVES THIS NOW & devours it!! With the mini nibs, I use a small hammer to gently squash the nib, as this releases the smell and flavor. I leave a few nibs not squashed so they can assist with cleaning her teeth and gums. I mix the nibs with the Patties, which I crumble into the same bowl. This is now her food that is left out all day for her to nibble on. I also add 5 drops of the kidney support gold, which I get from Chewy. (I add these drops because she's a senior and it truly helps my cat with keeping her kidneys well). I just take a fork or spoon and mix together the dry nibs and patties with the drops of kidney support gold. For the pate wet canned cat food, she gets this twice a day. I take 1/2 a patty of the Vital Cat patties and crumble it into shreds with my hand into 1/2 can of the wet pate' canned food. I also add 5 drops of the kidney support gold into her wet cat food. She doesn't eat the whole bowl at once, so I just put it back into the fridge when she walks away and reuse it for her 2nd meal and top it off when needed. Every year, for her senior check up with full panel testing, the vet says she is doing amazing!! Try crumbling the nibs and/or patties, it works!! No junky fillers and good things for your cat's body! … more

    Loves his duck

    By on

Yogi loves his duck. He has always eaten canned food, but he was allergic so we had to find a food he can tolerate. He has IBD so we switched to duck. So far so good.

    My cats LOVE this!

They devour this as it is (dry). I'm trying to get them used to the smell of it rehydrated by mixing it with their wet food and a bit of water. Would love to be able to feed this (and the rabbit patties) as both their wet food and their (overnight) dry food. Hopefully, they'll transition easily. Since some people have mentioned the package getting crushed, I'm going to put one dry patty in my blender to make it crumbs, then measure it out to see how much in crumbs equals one patty. Then, if it arrives crushed in the future, I can just measure out what I need and use that rehydrated. Won't be able to give it to them dry that way, though.
