I’m so annoyed. My cats and I love this food but we tend to get crumbs and not whole patties ! I have 4 cats, and to try and figure how much to give is a pain! There is supposed to be 18 patties which should last 1 of my cats about 15 days....
4 Stars for Great Freeze Dried but Boney

I’ve used a few different duck freeze dried brands over the past few years. My kitty is prone to hotspots, so when I saw that she was getting hot spots non-stop while eating a particular brand, I decided to try Vital Essentials. Since transitioning her to this food in Oct., she’s only had one small hotspot, and isn’t itching her sensitive skin as much. My only complaint is the amount of chunky bones in the patties. Some are the size of my pinky nail. If you don’t mind spending a couple of minutes picking out the bones, I highly recommend this food!

My cats loved these Vital Esentials duck patties! They were easy to crumble, quick to rehydrate and serve. I will keep it in rotation with some other freeze-dried meals that I feed them.

My cat loves it. This is his favorite food now. Every time I feed him this one, he can eat them all! This is also his first freeze-dried food he tries so far, and I believe pie'd love to try Vital Essentials' other cat food.
Our cat loves this food

Crushed with a little water that the freeze dried food absorbs. This is so satisfying he eats less of his dry food.

Easy, Healthy alternative

Not to easy on the wallet, however, worth it by way of convenience. Used to feed raw but adding all the necessary food parts and some minerals made it expensive and very timely. If your feline gobbles this up to fast, which can cause vomiting, just smash it to the bottom of the bowl and it makes it more difficult to scarf down. It worked for my hungry guy!
Very convenient and easy to portion, my cat loves it.

I have been feeding my cat Vital Essentials for about two months. We have tried both the chicken and the turkey mini nibs as well as the duck patties and the minnow treats. The duck patties are by far his favorite, but lately he has been vomiting after eating a half patty. By recommendation of my vet, I am continuing to feed him the patties, but nothing else, to rule out allergies as the culprit of his vomiting. I had both the mini nibs and patties in rotation. The patties are very easy to break apart, which has helped me reduce his serving size. This really seems to help because he gobbles all his freeze dried raw foods too fast, but with smaller portions is doing better. It's been very difficult to find a food that works for my sensitive kitty that is also a healthy option. My vet said the food seems quality over that of traditional food. It's worth trying if you're looking for an alternative to raw food made at home or frozen raw foods pre-made. I could never go back to dry kibble like my cat was used to before I adopted him. He certainly has more energy and interest since I made the switch to freeze dried all meat foods and treats.… more

The cat eats this with gusto. The freeze dried food is easy to store and raw diet is healthier and will prevent obesity.
I have been using it since we got our cat and she keeps hitting the reorder button.
