I have to ask, are these really made of green tripe? I've dehydrated green tripe before and it is a lot more green and stinky. These are not green and they have no odor.
Answer by ChewyMar 07, 2018
These treats are made from pure raw freeze-dried beef free from added hormones and antibiotics. Green Beef Tripe is the single ingredient.

If it is really green Tripe, it's not greenish. Is that becasue it is bleached?
Answer by ChewySep 08, 2018
The green beef tripe is called ‘green’ not because of the color but because it is not processed and still contains contents of the grazing animal’s stomach.

Chewy's description has these as green beef tripe but the bag just says beef tripe. Are these green tripe or regular tripe?
Answer by ChewyFeb 26, 2018
These treats are made of Green Beef Tripe.

Are these the same size as the pieces in the 2.3oz bag? (That smaller bag isn’t labelled “nibblets” but they’re the perfect size for training treats)
Answer by ChewyMay 02, 2018
Since these are natural treats, the sizes will vary. The smallest pieces are about the size of a pea, the larger pieces like a kidney bean. Please refer to the picture below for a visual example of the treats.

Another warning!

I love VE products, but was very disappointed in this purchase. Finding frozen raw tripe has become nearly impossible so thought I would try this since the price was right. Unfortunately I had almost the same experience as Denise. Bright blue flakes and mold on the product. Very unsettling. I too had to throw the bag away. Not a happy customer!

***Warning***

The first thing I noticed when I opened the bag is the bright green flakes in the tripe pieces. Then a week ago I saw a video where PLASTIC is being ground up and being put into livestock feed. I believe it! I took some pieces of tripe and pulled out a green part and a white one. I soaked them in water over night and yep, the white and green are plastic! You can tell when you pull and stretch them. I will have to throw this out.

Best beef tripe on the market!

I have extremely picky dogs and puppies and Vital Essentials is all they will eat. I consider beef tripe essential for my dogs' diets and this is the only brand I get. The ingredients are high quality, freeze dried and packed with nutrients. My vet noticed they are looking great after eating Vital Essentials. Highly recommend everyone to add these to your dog's diet. They also work as training treats. I have been buying these for years and will continue to do so. Definitely our favorite brand hands down! This is the best beef tripe compared to any other brand. I own a pet care business and I will only buy and recommend Vital Essentials to my clients.

My dogs are wild for this

I feed raw, and have until recently been able to source actual raw tripe which is NASTY but even the pickiest of my dogs on a hunger strike will eat it. They loved these nibbles. I kept them in the freezer and sprinkled them on top of their meals sometimes-they even love them frozen. I will buy them again. Great supplement, great treat. I have 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs and 2 Cavaliers.

Top Notch Training Treats

As a science-based, reward-based dog trainer I am always looking for the perfect treats for reinforcement. They can't be too big, they can't crumble, they can't stick to my fingers, and they must be visible when I toss them on the turf. Oh, and I want them to be high value without making me smell like the seashore or a meatpacking plant. I know tripe has a reputation for being high value, but it also has a reputation for smelling worse than a sewer plant. I thought I would try these because I have had very good luck with VE's other products. These are by far my new favorite thing to use for reinforcement. Two non-stinky thumbs up!

self employes

Healthy treat for dogs, they love it. We tried different brands but it smelled horrible. These treats provide good bacteria for dogs guts. I been buying them for few years already and will continue getting them for my dogs. Highly recommend!

Stinky in a Good Way

This stuff stinks. The dogs love it and it's super healthy for them. They sometimes have sales at Vital Essentials so check that site, too for a deal that could save you some serious bucks. It would be nice if Chewy would honor or pass along those ongoing sales from the website, too.

pieces too big

disappointed its the great big pieces, not the littler ones in the smaller package. Manufacturer does NOT make this clear at all!!

Best treat for dogs with EPI

My dog has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency - - in a nutshell, her pancreas cannot make digestive enzymes. For regular meals, I need to incubate her food with powdered enzymes to help digest it. But spontaneous treats are a bit more difficult! Beef tripe is pancreas, and therefore already has digestive enzymes in it. These nibblets are expensive, but my dog loves them and they don't make her sick. (And these don't stink badly like some tripe treats.) We will always have a bag or two on hand.
