A wholesome treat if your cats like them. My boys sometimes get fussy at mealtime so I usually crumble the vital Cat freeze dried rabbit food on top to get them started. Since I’m on a budget I thought I’d try these little treats. They like them but I must crumble them up and they’re not as effective as the patty ones.
My food-obsessed boy spits this right out and proceeds to play with it and bat it around like a toy. I was disappointed because I thought they'd love it. I tried mashing it into pieces so hopefully they'll prefer it as a powder...
My cats go nuts for vital essentials freeze dried chicken breast, hearts, and the giblets they have. I thought these rabbit ones would be a hit, but the texture is very different from the other freeze dried treats. The cats wanted to eat them but couldn't chew them. When I went to break them up they're a weird consistency. I'm thinking about trying to soak them/rehydrate them to see if that is an improvement. From here on I will probably stick to the chicken and hearts.
I tried this for a cat who had been hospitalized & became a picky eater. Neither he nor my other cats would touch this. This is, however, a very good brand with high quality food.
These have no rendered by-products (usually chicken or fish-meal as listed on more commercial treats) nor grains - they're just freeze dried rabbit. Any cat should like these and might even be a good way to help transition them from nasty dry food to raw but they are meant as treats only. My cats love, love, LOVE them and I'm glad Chewy has them a little cheaper than where I originally found them. Great value for the price.
some of my cats did NOT care for it.. kinda smelled different that other treats. Most treats, all my cats LOVE it or HATE it.. but this had them on the fence.. They definitely prefer the freeze dried chicken treats, but I can't stand the treats falling apart.
I'm giving these freeze dried rabbit bites 3 stars because all 3 of my cats did enjoy eating them. But unfortunately I will not be buying them again because both of my girls gave these back to me within 20 minutes after eating them if you catch my drift. I will stick to the freeze dried duck liver treats from this same brand though, those were liked and well tolerated by all 3 of my cats.
I bought this because one of my cats has a protein allergy to fish and chicken. Not all of my cats will eat these treats. But what makes me NERVOUS is the "Safety Handling" warning. You need to make sure you wash hands, counter, dishes and anything that comes in contact with these treats with hot soapy water. None of the other treats I give my cats say this on the packages. So beware.
Both of my cats took one sniff and turned their noses up and walked away. Wasted my money on this one.
My cat loves rabbit and freeze dried treats so to have two of his favorite things combined really got him excited! These hold together well and don't crumble as easily as other freeze dried treats. My cat has these as an extra special treat every few days, and he really notices the difference between these and his normal chicken freeze dried treats!
