Raise by $8?!?! Ok for IBD, but needs mixing with VE rabbit patties for dogs!

Worth the price, as this and VE freeze-dried patties for dogs (which I grind up) is all my IBD kitty can eat. With each serving of nibs, I mix in warm water and a tbsp or so of the VE freeze dried rabbit mini patties for dogs (pulverized in my blender) - this has kept his tummy upsets at bay along with various herbs and prednisolone. The nibs alone cause loose stool, but not mixed with the dog food ground up (there is no interest in the VE freeze dried dog patties alone, and they have big bits of bone, which is why I grind the patties). If my cat WOULD eat just the patties, I'd go with only patties. I feel the steep and sudden raise in price is atrocious though. I just wish the price didn't go up by like 20% overnight. At the same time, GRATEFUL this exists. Can I suggest an herbal product or two? There are many I use that aren't on Chewy, but Wapiti GI Upset, available on Chewy, has been helpful. I also use Life Gold available on Chewy.. and others :) ^_^… more
My cats wont touch it!

A huge waste of money. $42.00 with shipping and none of the cats will touch it. The mini nibs are huge! We had to try to crush them because they are as hard as rocks and one of my rescue cats only has about 1/2 of his teeth. They seriously tried to bury the food. None of the cats will touch it.

I had read a lot of good stuff about this food. My cats would not touch the nibs. Not sure if it’s the texture or smell? I tried feeding dry and I tried rehydrating with water to no avail.
My dog loves the nibs as treats. So not a total waste of money.
Picky cat like it!

I am trying to transition my kitty over to freeze dried food with a crunch like kibble, because she loves her kibble. So far, so good. She is enjoying a mix of kibble ant VE rabbit nibs. My intention is to totally get her off kibble due to allergies, weak tummy.
The nibs are large, so I do blend them in a processor to break them down. The pieces are large enough for a dog to eat. My only complaint.
The best we've found

We thoroughly love spoiling our cats. So far, out of an amazing variety of foods and treats, this is the absolute favorite of our kitties. We have a selection of favorite foods and treats, but it's this bag that our cats tap the most.
Too hard to eat

This gets three stars because my cat was definitely interested in this food, but the pieces were so hard, even after soaking in water for a while, that he couldn't chew on them. He got frustrated and gave up. When I poured it into the disposal, it sounded like it was grinding rocks. :\
This got a big no

I don't know how people get their cats to eat freeze dried food. Mine want nothing to do with this. I have one inside kitty and 5 outside kitties. Nope. Some of them will at least try it once, but not eat it again. Others sniff it and look at me like I've lost my mind. I like the concept, but the reality is that this it's not appealing to the kitties.
My cat loves this

Vital Essentials Rabbit Mini Nibs - my cat looks forward to this eagerly every morning and gets me up at 5 AM to feed it to him. I mix it with Caru Stew to rehydrate the nibs. Never feed this dry. It's not kibble.
Cat Likes it

This is an excellent food. My cats are crazy about it as well as the VE freeze dried raw treats. If you choose to hydrate this food it takes some time and effort. Mine prefer it as is. Since my babies eat wet food and are off kibble completely I think it’s ok to give them this type of “dry” food. The only problem is it is expensive and goes fast, so one bag for 2 adult cats as an overnight food barely lasted 10 days. But it’s worth every penny.
