My cats love all vital essentials I have offered them so far

    By on

I have been trying different brands of freeze dried raw, and so far, every single Vital essentials has been a hit with my cats. Turkey patties, they love them, I rehydrate with luke warm water. Turikey nibs... I give them as treats, the cats go nuts for them, like cat candy. The chicken hearts, also, each cat goes nuts for it, and so healthy, just a bit expensive of a treat.... I am also giving the rabbit and duck nib treats. The turkey flavor seems a bit more popular than the rabbit and duck. But I am very impressed with the quality of ingredients.

    My cats LOVE this food!

    By on

My Vet recommended Vital Essentials Turkey freeze dried food because of dietary issues my cats had. I wasn’t sure about it and gave it a try. At first I was nervous that it would be too hard but I was wrong. They absolutely love it and come running when the hear the bag. No more issues with diet and their coats are beautiful! Give it a try if you’re on the fence.

    My cats like them

    By on

As with anything new, It took awhile to introduce these to my cats. But now they like them and give me “the look” if there aren’t at least a few mini nibs as a topper.

    Vital Essentials

My cat loved a sample pack of the turkey mini nibs, but didn't really care for them when I bought a full bag. My dog loves them and we use them as treats for her.

    Cat loves it.

    By on

My cat Linus loves this food. Its drawback is the expense like all quality freeze dried foods. To mitigated the expense I mix it with a high quality grain free kibble at 1/3 to 2/3. That way he gets a healthy diet that contains more freeze dried food than the the prepackaged diets that contain only a small percentage of freeze dried.

    Great as treats

    By on

My former stray adores the VE rabbit bites for dogs, so I tried this to use as his dry food. That didn't work out, because he loves it too much to use for free feeding - he'd just eat the whole thing at once. But as a treat, or as a limited-portion food, they're wonderful. He'd do anything for a turkey nib! I love that the ingredient list is so wholesome, so I can give him a treat he loves without worrying about nutrition. The only ingredient that gave me pause was the milk, but he seems to do fine with it.

    My Picky Eater Loves It

    By on Top 25 Contributor

I was trying to find something to rotate into my picky eaters diet. I tried both the VE turkey and duck. To my surprise they were a big hit with her. She never likes anything. I do rehydrate it with filtered boiled water from my electric kettle. I heard many say it doesn't rehydrate but I've had no problem with that so far. Maybe because I use such hot water. Not sure but my girl likes it so I will continue to purchase.

ate at first but then no more

    By on Top 250 Contributor

At first my cats thought these were treats and ate them immediately. My cats prefer hard food to soft and these are hard nibs. However after a few days they ignored this food. Not sure what changed, but each time i gave it to them, they just left it uneaten. Such a great food, too, I donated to their former shelter. Hopefully those kitties enjoy this food.

Rock hard, rehydration is nearly impossible

    By on

I have senior cats with few to no teeth. The instructions say you can rehydrate these in a “few minutes” with warm water. Well, 30 minutes in hot water does nothing except give it a slimy exterior coating. I mashed it with a fork but that was difficult and time consuming (like, 1-3 minutes of mashing every 5-10 minutes). This is basically a non-option if you are looking to rehydrate.
