  • Not at all like the Turkey Patties

    By on

I ordered these as a suggestion to the turkey patties that Vital Cat not longer makes. They are hard but I can break them apart but my little Loki does not like them and he loved the patties as they crumbled easily. I will start buying them again if they decide to make the patties again. I am glad chewy does refunds if your kitty does not like them.

  • A good meal

I have 3 cats with VASTLY different dietary needs. One has so many food allergies she gets liquid bowel movements if she eats most food, one has a kidney that doesn't work right and arthritis so the wrong foods leave him bloated and unable to get around, and the third has chronic pancriantitis and the wrong foods make him throw up and unable to eat or drink for at LEAST 24 hours which can leave him severely dehydrated. This is the only food I can feed. I just add some wet cat food to encourage eating and hot water. They DO need a long time to soak but they WILL rehydrate. Otherwise it's fine to leave them dry too bc they CAN eat them. Just remember to get white AND red meats to create a balanced I have 3 cats with VASTLY different dietary needs. • Tried it, they didn't like it! :-(

I thought maybe since they liked the "Primal" freeze-dried turkey, they might like this. Unfortunately, 4 out 4 cats did not like this product.

My Bengal cat absolutely despised this. She wouldn't even try one little kernel.

  • Great for treats!

    By on

One of my cats like these and the other does not. Surprising since the one that eats these has bad teeth. They are a bit hard, but he still manages to chew them just fine.

  • Good For Chicken Allergy

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

My vet recommended that I switch from chicken to a different protein source after my little kitty started to develop bald, itchy spots all over his body. He loves the taste and I love that there is no chicken anywhere in the ingredients!

  • Superior cat food

    By on

Although I prefer the rabbit to this one based on preferable ingredients, the ingredients in these foods are superior and are whole food. My cats get their calcium via bone and egg shell rather than cheap synthetic supplementation, many of which cause cancer. The only problem is that they need to be finely ground so I put the product in my Nutribullet and use it for topper. For some reason my cats do not like the Vital Essentials topper. I tried feeding the nibs whole but they got stuck in my cats system and caused blockage. The product should be ground up and used as topper. My cats are much healthier since I began feeding this product.

  • Great as a wholesome food topper

    By on

I have two young cats (3.5 yr and a 7 month)...they enjoy the crunch of these nibs over their wet food....i feel good that they're able to get some raw food with their canned food for their lunch...(for breakfast i give them another raw food)..they have no issue cracking and chewing these nibs...I introduced this food to the little cat about 2 months ago, once her teeth were fully grown in...so i would say that's the important thing to consider for younger cats and senior cats, who may have missing teeth...otherwise this is a healthy food topper for cat's dental hygiene...it gives them a nice workout :)

  • They hate it so much it's funny

    By on Top 500 Contributor

I wanted to replace their usual unhealthy treats with some sort of dry food free of irritants like grain & legumes. They like some freeze dried treats (like another brand's plain chicken breast chunks), so I hoped this would combine that texture they like with a bit better nutrition than the plain breast meat- it seemed like an ideal option. I tried the rabbit of this line too and they absolutely hate both types, so I guess I paid $40 for some food to give to the neighborhood raccoon, ouch! I tried mixing this in with another dry food they did like, and they pick these ones out and move them far from the feeding area, I suppose so the smell doesn't bother them as they eat the other stuff LOL! It's a shame, I like the ingredient list. But all three cats agree this is inedible. I wish they sold sample sizes so finding a new food or treat didn't have to involve so much money wasted. … more
