My former stray adores the VE rabbit bites for dogs, so I tried this to use as his dry food. That didn't work out, because he loves it too much to use for free feeding - he'd just eat the whole thing at once. But as a treat, or as a limited-portion food, they're wonderful. He'd do anything for a turkey nib! I love that the ingredient list is so wholesome, so I can give him a treat he loves without worrying about nutrition. The only ingredient that gave me pause was the milk, but he seems to do fine with it.
My Picky Eater Loves It

I was trying to find something to rotate into my picky eaters diet. I tried both the VE turkey and duck. To my surprise they were a big hit with her. She never likes anything. I do rehydrate it with filtered boiled water from my electric kettle. I heard many say it doesn't rehydrate but I've had no problem with that so far. Maybe because I use such hot water. Not sure but my girl likes it so I will continue to purchase.
ate at first but then no more

At first my cats thought these were treats and ate them immediately. My cats prefer hard food to soft and these are hard nibs. However after a few days they ignored this food. Not sure what changed, but each time i gave it to them, they just left it uneaten. Such a great food, too, I donated to their former shelter. Hopefully those kitties enjoy this food.
Rock hard, rehydration is nearly impossible

I have senior cats with few to no teeth. The instructions say you can rehydrate these in a “few minutes” with warm water. Well, 30 minutes in hot water does nothing except give it a slimy exterior coating. I mashed it with a fork but that was difficult and time consuming (like, 1-3 minutes of mashing every 5-10 minutes). This is basically a non-option if you are looking to rehydrate.
My cats eat the Turkey patties but refuse to eat the Turkey mini nibs.

I bought Turkey mini patties first (btw my cats love it) and then purchase this. Unfortunately, my cats refused to eat it. I looked up the ingredient list they are exactly the same. However, the patties say it is a limited ingredient version. If you have picky cats like mine, go with the pattie, not the mini nibs.

My cat absolutely loves vital essential cat foods. Since he’s been eating the turkey and chicken, his coat is gorgeous! I highly recommend this food. Fantastic ingredients and good to use if you’re away and can’t leave wet or raw food out. Love it!
I was really hoping that my cats would like this.

I was really hoping that my cats would like, this food, but they won’t eat it. I am still going to buy other flavors of this food, maybe even the dogs version. I am desperate for them to love freeze dried food, I think it will help them with their itchy skin and hot spots.

My cats were very calm after eating the Turkey mini nibs. I now see that the tryptamine in turkey does effect cats just like humans when we eat that turkey dinner. Nap anyone?

Oliver says, “it’s not my old kibble, but since mom switched me to this, I’m down to my fighting weight and the vet says I look great”
A little too hard, but the cats like them.

These are very hard pellets. If they were softer, I would give the 5 stars. One cat likes them and one cat is meh.
