To attract the greatest variety of birds, you should have at least 2 - 3 different types of feeders to accommodate different types of seeds, and varying feeding habits. Hopper Feeders and Tube Feeders (with large holes) are better for Sunflower Seed, Safflower Seed, Peanuts and Blended Seeds. Finch Tube Feeders (with small holes) are better for Nyer Seed and Finch Food. Platform Feeders will accommodate ground feeding birds (such as Cardinals, Juncos, Doves, Jays, and Sparrows) and other wildlife.

Draws them in!
By Mejirobird on Jan 14, 2021
I have so many goldfinches this time of year, they can go through a lot of Nyjer Seed in a short amount of time. I tried several feed stores and big box stores but the prices were prohibitive. This was the best deal and it is a large quantity so I don't have to keep running out and my birds don't have to be without their favorite seed. Thanks for providing such speedy delivery and good service!

quality product

This is a good bag of seed but unfortunately I don't think our thistle seed loving birds like the feeder I put it in! I have several feeders and I needed some niger thistle and by ordering it from Chewy I did not have to go in a store plus it saved me the shipping cost as I ordered some seat covers as well.

My birds won't eat it
By SophieColorado on Jan 11, 2021
I didn't know anything about Nyjer seed, but read that goldfinches love it. The seeds I got are dry and brown. ? There is no expiration date on the 2 bags I bought, and my birds won't touch it. What a waste of almost $70, not to mention the 40 lbs of nyjer seed that's sitting in my house.

Did not ever get my items!
By Karen on Oct 30, 2020
Ordered this and they said they shipped it but it has been 15 days since they said it was shipped and every time I call I am told that it will be here in two days.

Birds appreciate it
By Michael on Nov 17, 2020
Typical Nyger seed. Birds love it, but Chewy packing still sucks. Lost a 1/4 of the bag in the box, but saved most of it.

my goldfinches won’t eat this
By annie on Aug 18, 2020
my flock of goldfinches do not like and will not eat this seed though its expiration date is 7/14/22. According to google, good fresh nyger seed should be shiny black (not dark brown as this bag is) and each seed should produce a bit of oil when you squish it between your fingers, and this doesn’t. Which seems to mean it was overly dried-out during processing.

Bad batch?
By Ginger on Sep 23, 2020
The previous reviewer was right, the birds would not eat this batch, not even the sparrows and doves which eat pretty much everything. All previous orders were loved by my birds, so maybe they over roasted this batch? I wish it is more consistent.

Goldfinches Like it, Don't Love it
By murph3g on Aug 5, 2020
I got this seed for a special goldfinch feeder I purchased this summer. Seed was fresh, and goldfinches have been eating it. They're not flocking to the feeder as I expected, and they tend to only eat this seed when my other feeder (with sunflower kernels) is empty. I'm enjoying watching them visit, though.

Finches red, yellow and green
By Sherie on Oct 4, 2020
Many finches this year although the Northwest fires calmed the yard covered in grey smoke. The black capped chickadees and nuthatch birds also enjoy nyjer.
