    Birds Flock to Feeders!

    Birds are crazy about these sunflower seeds. And so is "Scamper" the gray squirrel who lives under our shed in the backyard! (I give him his own bowl along with walnuts so he doesn't raid the bird feeders.) I've fed sunflower seeds to the wild birds for years and tried many brands.     great if only larger birds visit, but not so good for finches

    I prefer Pennington's which offer a mix of whole and smaller chips. Wagner's is entirely whole chips which are too large for anything smaller than a Jay. Before filling my feeders, I have to grind Wagner's chips in my food processor to ensure there are small chips available for finches. Otherwise I prefer Pennington's which offer a mix of whole and smaller chips. Wagner's is entirely whole chips which are too large for anything smaller than a Jay. Otherwise, the smaller birds just kick out all the whole chips making a mess and making food available for unwanted vermin. … more
